A compact format, authentic analogue sound generation and an oscillator with a modern Nutube vacuum tube make the Korg Volca Nubass a standalone bass synthesiser for punchy sequences, warm lows and vibrant acid lines. This small groove machine combines the character of classic tube technology with direct access to filter, drive, sequencer and modulation. The result is bass sounds that do not feel sterile, but instead offer movement, body and an audible analogue colouration. Tube sound in pocket format At its heart is a Nutube oscillator, which produces sawtooth and square waves using genuine vacuum tube technology. The result is a thick, organic basic sound with overtones that clearly stand out from purely digital emulations. The sound is direct, tactile and can quickly be steered in a musical direction. An additional sub-oscillator works an octave lower and also features its own dedicated tube stage. This gives the bass more foundation without losing the compact character of the instrument. Particularly with repetitive sequences, this creates a stable base that fits well into electronic productions. Filter with bite and feeling The transistor ladder filter is one of the most important sound tools of the synthesiser. It reacts musically to movements, makes basslines sound tighter, sharper or more open, and brings the typical acid character to the fore at higher resonance settings. Together with the analogue overdrive, a broad spectrum is created, ranging from subtle saturation to significantly roughened distortion. The drive knob determines the intensity, while tone shapes the treble components. This allows you to keep the bass rounded and warm or to place it in the mix with more edge. Sequences that never stand still The integrated 16-step sequencer is more than a simple note manager. With real-time recording, step entry, motion sequences and a pattern chain function, ideas can be developed quickly and shaped directly. Up to 16 patterns can be saved and chained together. Accent, slide and transpose provide the typical movements that make electronic basslines lively. The random generator adds further variations and helps you break up stale patterns. This makes the device well-suited for spontaneous sketches, live jams and structured studio work. Small, direct, versatile connectivity With battery operation, an integrated speaker and a weight of just 0.37 kg, the synthesiser remains highly portable. You can use it independently of a fixed studio setup, capture ideas on the go, or integrate it as a standalone bass voice into an existing setup. Via MIDI In as well as Sync In and Sync Out, the Korg synthesiser can be connected to other Volcas, drum machines, sequencers or a DAW. The user interface remains deliberately direct. You do not need to navigate through nested menus; instead, you get immediate access to the most important sound and sequencer parameters. Who is the Korg Volca Nubass best suited for? This instrument is right for you if you are looking for a compact analogue bass synthesiser that delivers quick results while offering enough depth for your own sound design. For beginners, the direct operation is pleasantly intuitive. Advanced users will benefit from the sequencer functions, MIDI integration and the unique tube character in the oscillator. Compact in format and full of expressive possibilities, this analog synthesizer opens up an amazingly versatile way to experiment with character-rich sounds. Its core is an integrated Space Delay, which not only provides lively echoes but also noticeably shapes the sound through the immediate reaction to changes in delay time. This creates organic sound progressions that you can intuitively control, giving the device a distinctive expressive quality. Analog sound shaping with MS-20 character The built-in filter is based on the classic MS-20 design and offers a striking way to shape and enrich your sound. The typical resonance sweep can be adjusted directly and responds precisely to every movement. With cutoff and peak, you control the intensity of the filter effect and can make both fine adjustments and drastic interventions – ideal for experimental sound progressions or clear, defined transitions. Expressive ribbon keyboard The four-octave ribbon keyboard provides an immediate playing feel and enables smooth movements between notes. Thanks to its blacklight glow capability, it remains visible even in darkness and sets a striking visual accent. Combined with the integrated speaker and the uncomplicated battery operation, the device remains flexible in use – ready for spontaneous sessions, on the go or in your home studio. Compact dimensions meet the familiar handling of an analog classic, because this synthesizer takes up the sound and operating concept of its historical model and continues it in a handy form. The analog character remains fully preserved, while modern connections and a carefully reconstructed architecture make its use in today’s production environment easier. Authentic Analog Synthesis The sound-defining structure of 2 VCOs, dual filters and analog amplifiers forms the heart of the instrument. This architecture produces the typical rough resonances and warm fundamental tones for which the original became known. By recreating the early filter generation, a particularly distinctive, slightly aggressive sound is created, which can be shaped in many ways and supports both bass-heavy lines and precise highs. The interaction of analog envelopes, variable waveforms and a flexibly adjustable modulation generator expands the expressive range. This allows the device to respond very directly to playing nuances, creating a lively and dynamic sound image. Flexible Patching Concept A central feature is the modular patch panel, which enables extensive intervention in the internal signal routing. The signal flow is graphically displayed directly on the housing, making it easier to understand the structure and allowing intuitive operation. In addition to internal connections, external sound sources can also be integrated: The built-in signal processor opens the door to creative routings, where guitars or other instruments become modulation sources. The compact mini-jack connections ensure a space-saving design and keep the device tidy despite its patching flexibility. At the same time, the familiar operating concept remains fully intact. Authentic Design and Precise Operation The front panel, knobs and controls are closely based on the historical model, creating a clear, tactile playing feel. All control elements respond immediately and offer the same resistance as the original. The slightly reduced keyboard remains comfortable to play and, despite its compact form, provides precise feedback. Externally, the manufacturer also focuses on authenticity: proportions, labels and operating logic have been carefully reconstructed and complemented by modern interfaces without altering the character of the original. Modern Connectivity Options Thanks to MIDI-IN and USB-MIDI, you can easily integrate the device into digital production environments. Hardware setups benefit just as much as DAW-based workflows. The combination of analog sound generation and contemporary controllability makes the instrument a versatile addition to various musical applications. Build beats in seconds – exactly what the Korg Electribe 2 was developed for. The Music Production Station in striking metallic blue combines a powerful analog modeling synth with a PCM sound engine and a 16-step sequencer into a compact instrument for music production and live performance. 409 oscillator waveforms, 16 velocity-sensitive trigger pads, and an integrated XY touchpad give you everything you need to quickly turn your musical ideas into sound. Sounds without detours The sound engine of the Korg Groovebox brings together 55 analog modeling oscillators with an extensive PCM library. From simple waveforms such as Saw, Pulse, or Sine to complex variations like Ring Mod, Cross Mod, or VPM, you have a broad range at your disposal. All sound parameters can be adjusted directly via the controls on the surface – without having to dive into menus. The filters come from the KingKORG and simulate classic synthesizer filter types, allowing you to shape drums, basses, and synth sounds precisely. Sequencing with tempo 16 parts with 64 steps each (16 x 4) form the backbone of the sequencer. Patterns can be programmed via realtime recording using the pads or via step recording note by note. With the Pattern-Chain function from System Version 2, you can link up to 250 patterns in a row – ideal for complete song structures. There are also 25 groove templates, 35 scale types, and 50 gate arpeggiator variations that add rhythmic depth to your sequences. Effects with character Each of the 16 parts has its own insert effect with 38 types – from compression to overdrive to modulation effects. The master effect can be controlled via the touchpad, just like with the Kaoss Pad. Effects such as „Vinyl Break", „Odd Stepper", or „Seq Reverse" directly affect the sequencer playback and create creative breaks during performance. Up to 24 motion sequences per pattern record movements of the controls, making your sound changes reproducible. Work in sync Using the sync connection, you link the production station with other Korg Groove machines such as the Volca series, the SQ-1, or the Electribe sampler. MIDI in and out (via the included adapter cables) allow you to integrate it into your existing setup. Using the audio input, you can feed in external signals and process them with the internal filters and effects. You export patterns either as a WAV file or directly as an Ableton Live project file – each part ends up as its own clip in Live. Mobile and robust The zinc die-cast housing makes the blue Electribe tough and at the same time pleasantly compact. With just 1.6 kg and the option to run the device using six AA batteries, you can be productive even without a mains socket.
