DJ CD Players - 'playing' instead of just playing
DJ CD players are not your typical CD players: they start without delay and provide information on timings like Remain Time. Through the Fader-Start connection, the players establish a link to the mixer for DJs.
The difference lies in the details
Other differences from conventional players: the larger control buttons and the shock-resistant drive. To compensate for the different tempos of songs, DJ CD players also feature a Pitch control akin to a speed regulator.
There are few things more embarrassing while DJing than unsuccessfully searching for specific parts of songs. This scenario is avoided by modern DJ players with a precise search function in the form of Jog-Wheels.
Types of DJ CD Players
Essentially, we distinguish between 3 types of players:
- Tabletop players carry a single drive, sit beside the mixer, and are accessible from above.
- 19" Single Drives are single drives designed for installation in 19" racks.
- 19" Double Drives, inclusive or exclusive of remote, carry two drives with separate outputs. The actual drive in 19" rack format includes audio and power connectors and is connected to the remote unit via special cables.
Thanks to the Jog-Wheel, playback speeds can be finely adjusted for beatmatching. Thus, Jog-Wheels replace turntables in DJ CD players, making DJing just as virtuosic as with vinyl. Even scratching is now possible with DJ CD players.
Quality devices also feature Master Tempo functions for maintaining constant pitches with variable pitches. Additionally, an integrated speed analysis (BPM) for individual songs can be helpful.
