Product description Korg Drumlogue
A beat often only gains character when the kick, snare and percussion do not all come from the same sound world. This is exactly where the Korg Drumlogue comes in: The hybrid drum machine combines four analogue drum parts with six digital sample parts and a freely usable multi-engine.
Analogue base, digital addition
Bass drum, snare drum as well as low and high tom are created via independent analogue circuits. The most important parameters are available as knobs directly on the surface, allowing you to adjust pitch, sound shaping and level without tedious menu navigation. Six PCM and user sample parts complement the analogue base with additional percussion, samples and accents.
The concept remains clear: The analogue voices provide the foundation, while digital parts can thicken a groove or consciously break it up. Each part has its own volume control. This makes it easier to rebalance a beat while working instead of searching for individual tracks in a mixing menu at the end.
A multi-engine for further sound ideas
The eleventh part works with the Korg multi-engine. In addition to noise and VPM, a slot for user synthesizers is available. As a result, the drum machine can take on additional synthesizer sounds alongside its fixed drum and sample parts, which can be treated like another voice in the pattern.
Custom synthesizers can be developed for this purpose via the logue SDK. These can contain features such as filters, LFOs or MIDI-controlled polyphony. The multi-engine therefore expands the sound library not just with an additional preset collection, but with an open layer for individually programmed sounds.
Do not just think of sequences in a straight line
The sequencer manages 11 parts over up to 64 steps. For more vivid rhythms, probabilities, alternative triggers and micro-offsets are available per step; furthermore, groove patterns can be used per track. Motion and accent recordings capture movements and emphases directly in the pattern.
With chain mode, patterns can be linked into longer sequences. In loop mode, you can switch between variations, while randomize can create new starting points for an existing pattern. The OLED display and four assigned encoders help to process these interventions visibly and immediately.
Effects and connections in the setup
Reverb, delay and a master effect can work simultaneously. This allows individual sounds to be placed spatially or an entire beat to be shaped further without having to immediately supplement the device with external effects. Programmes and drum kits each offer 128 memory slots, of which 64 are occupied from the factory.
On the rear panel, main outputs in L/mono and R, four additional audio outputs, a headphone output, audio in, MIDI in/out and sync in/out are provided. USB-A and USB-B cover MIDI controllers as well as the connection to the computer and make the Drumlogue a well-connectable building block for a hardware or hybrid setup.
The Korg Drumlogue for your pattern-oriented setup
The Korg Drumlogue is suitable for producers who are looking for a directly playable rhythm machine with an analogue core and would like to develop their beats further with samples as well as digital synthesizer sounds at the same time. It fits particularly well into setups in which patterns are built, varied and subsequently connected to other devices via multiple outputs or MIDI.
The combination of volume controls, chain and loop modes is also practical for live performers, because grooves can be changed during playback. The open multi-engine provides space for your own sound ideas without losing the clear access to the classic drum parts.

Important questions about the article Korg Drumlogue
Question: Can the Korg Drumlogue be used without a computer for beats and patterns?
Answer: Yes. Sounds, kits and patterns are created directly on the unit, and the internal 64-step sequencer works standalone. A computer connected via USB is required to import your own samples.
Question: How is the sound generation structured?
Answer: The Drumlogue combines four analogue drum parts with six sample-based digital parts and an additional Multi Engine. This makes it possible to combine punchy electronic drums with PCM and your own samples.
Question: Can I use my own samples?
Answer: Yes. Your own samples can be transferred to the memory via USB and assigned to the six sample-based parts.
Question: What is the Multi Engine for?
Answer: The Multi Engine adds a synth voice to the drum parts and supports VPM and Noise engines as well as User Custom Synthesizers. It is especially useful when a kit is to be expanded with melodic, digital or experimental sounds.
Question: How flexible is the sequencer?
Answer: The sequencer offers up to 64 steps per pattern and features such as probability, alternate triggers, micro offsets and groove per track. This also makes it suitable for polyrhythmic or more lively varied beats.
Question: Can I record individual sounds separately or process them externally?
Answer: Yes. Four individually assignable audio outputs are available in addition to the stereo main output and headphone output. Parts can therefore be routed to external effects, a mixer or separate inputs on an audio interface.
Question: How is the Drumlogue synchronized with other equipment?
Answer: It offers MIDI In/Out, Sync In/Out and USB for connection to a computer or DAW. This allows it to be integrated into both hardware setups and computer-based studios.
Question: What else is needed for operation?
Answer: The power supply and quick start guide are included. No further accessories are needed for standalone use; a computer with a USB connection is needed for your own samples.
