Gemini MDJ-1000 V2

CDs, USB drives and DJ software can be integrated into the same workflow with a player: the Gemini MDJ-1000 V2 as a CD and USB media player plays music independently of a computer and can also control software via MIDI or HID. The slot-in drive reads audio CDs, CD-Rs and MP3 CDs; the USB input gives you access to compatible USB storage media.

The central 4.3-inch colour display shows track information such as title, time, BPM and pitch, as well as a large waveform. Song data and cover artwork are displayed when browsing the music library. Active loops, Hot Cues and Slip Mode are also visible on the display, so you can keep track of playback and important actions.

The touch-sensitive 8-inch jog wheel with adjustable resistance supports precise control: depending on the jog mode, you can use it for searching, pitch bending or scratch effects. Four programmable Hot Cues jump directly to marked points. For transitions, there are eight fixed Auto Loop lengths and a manually set loop; Slip and Reverse complement the performance functions. You can also adjust the start and stop time in jog mode.

For tempo adjustment, the pitch control offers six ranges from ±4 to ±100 per cent. Auto Sync, manual BPM entry via Tap and BPM Lock help you match tracks; Master Tempo keeps the pitch constant when the speed changes. The V2 version features a redesigned display in the centre of the jog wheel, an updated chip for more reliable response and an internal power supply.

Via Ethernet, you can connect up to four players; the Link function supports shared operation and synchronisation. When connected to a computer, the device can work as a MIDI and HID controller as well as an audio interface for PC and Mac. Audio transmission supports up to 24-bit and 192 kHz. USB hubs cannot be used; the storage medium must be connected directly.

The MDJ-1000 V2 is suited to modular DJ setups with a separate mixer and workstations where you want to combine CD or USB playback with computer control. RCA and S/PDIF outputs provide analogue and digital connection options; the Link function is designed for setups with multiple players.
