In horn-loaded PA systems, the mid-high range, bass horns and amplification must work together as a matched system. The Dynacord Xa2 System combines two FX-12 mid-high enclosures, four FX-20 bass horns and two XA-4000 power amplifiers. The combination is designed for high sound pressure levels in mobile and permanently installed sound reinforcement systems.

The FX-12 use a coaxial conical horn and provide coverage of 80° horizontally and 40° vertically. Neodymium components handle the mid and high frequencies; separate voice coil tracking protection circuits protect both ranges. For operation with the FX-20, an active crossover at 140 Hz with an 18 dB/octave Butterworth characteristic is recommended. The FX-12 has a passive crossover at 1.000 Hz.

As bass enclosures, the FX-20 use a Planar-Waveguide bass horn with an EVX-180-B 18-inch woofer. They also feature voice coil tracking protection. The specified frequency response, measured with the XA-4000, ranges from 30 to 150 Hz; an active crossover to the top cabinet is also specified at 140 Hz with an 18 dB/octave Butterworth characteristic.

The two XA-4000 are active two-way system power amplifiers using Class H technology with a switch-mode power supply. Their separate SUB and TOP outputs match the system's division into bass and mid-high ranges. The amplifiers offer protection against overheating, DC voltage, high-frequency signals, back EMF, overcurrent and inrush current, as well as a power-on delay. Three fan speeds direct cooling air from front to rear.

The four-pole system wiring assigns the signals to the designated contacts: in normal operation, the FX-12 connections are on 1+/1−, and in the system configuration on 2+/2−; the FX-20 uses 1+/1−. The enclosures are fitted with Speakon sockets of type NL4MPR. The package also includes a four-pole PSS-404 Speakon cable.

The set is designed for mobile DJ events, Top 40 events indoors and outdoors, industrial and multimedia events, speech reinforcement, theatres, hire companies and permanent installations. Two top cabinets and four bass horns make up a system configuration for users looking for high sound pressure reserves and active two-way drive with matching power amplifiers.
