Denon SC5000M - New Denon DJ Media Player with Motorized Turntables
An extraordinary new media player that combines state-of-the-art digital comfort with the feeling of a real turntable.
Real Vinyl Feeling
With the DN S 5000, Denon DJ in 2003 became the first company to produce a media player with a motorized turntable, and today, after perfecting its technology in the realm of motorized media players, it presents the new SC 5000 M. Unlike the multiple award-winning previous version, the M version (standing for "motorized") is equipped with a real 7" vinyl record in the middle of the jog wheel and even has adjustable torque.
The aluminum die-cast platter is characterized by the high resolution of MIDI performances (3600 ticks per revolution), which combined with the adjustable vinyl tension for Slip/Scratch control, guarantees a real mechanical rotation for the DJ, making the feeling with the machine unique and identical to what one experiences with analog turntables.
Powerful Motor
Denon DJ has developed a more powerful and performant motor than any other motor mounted on a DJ media player thus far, and combined it with the elegance of the surface of the SC 5000. Brushless motors are vastly superior to their brushed counterparts, with a high torque-to-weight ratio, higher efficiency/reliability, noise and electromagnetic interference reduction, and longer lifespan. The brushless motor of the SC5000M is not influenced by centrifugal force, ensures efficient cooling of the circuitry, and is protected from dust and dirt.
Prime Engine - Denon's Own Software
With Denon DJ's free music analysis and management software, Prime Engine, DJs can import all their music libraries from iTunes, Serato DJ Pro, Rekordbox, including playlists, folders, Hot Cues, and Loops, into the SC 5000 M. In this new version, integrated support has also been added, so Native Instruments users can import their entire or partial music collection and enjoy a free Traktor experience.
The SC 5000 M features the same award-winning technology as the multicore processor of the SC 5000, which received two of the most prestigious awards last year: "Ultimate Club Deck" and "Innovative New Product". Taking first place in a head-to-head race with their direct competitor means Denon DJ has shocked the market with a good and advanced technological solution for the future of DJs.
Touchscreen and Features
The 7" HD multi-touchscreen provides DJs with the technology of modern touchscreen devices. This high-contrast screen is latency-free, and the interaction interface allows DJs to browse music libraries, search and scroll/load tracks with complete filters, all presets, and instant access to all features with an unprecedented ease.
All essential display options such as colorful and detailed waveforms, BPM, track, and loop settings are clear and easily readable. The gestures are the same as on our smartphones. With the Dual-Layer function, the SC 5000 M integrates, like the SC 5000, two completely independent players in a single housing, allowing you to work on one machine (A/B) as if you had two separate players available.
This means that DJs can play an entire set with just one player in case of emergency, thanks to independent dual analog and digital outputs. Thanks to the "Instant-Doubles" function, two DJs can duplicate and share the same track, including the timeline. With Instant-Double, a DJ can send a track to the second DJ via the network.
Library at Your Fingertips
The SC 5000 M is the only media player that internally analyzes complete libraries with BPM, beat grids, and waveforms, without the help of an external computer. A DJ can simply insert a USB storage or an unanalyzed SD card and the SC 5000 M will internally analyze all track metadata loaded in the background, allowing immediate playback, including instant cueing.
The SC 5000 M has the quality of a DAW and an integrated time-stretching algorithm that will forever change DJs' expectations. The music key can be locked, as well as super extreme time changes; in both cases, the result is the integrity of all audio frequencies. Thanks to the revolutionary Time Stretch algorithm, you can mix a 95 bpm Hip-Hop track with a 125 bpm House track, a 138 bpm Trance track with a 170 bpm Drum 'n Bass track, in a mix of creativity and perfection.
With the SC 5000 M, you can control hot cues, loops, rolls, and slices without a laptop or external software. Eight MPC-style trigger pads also allow playback of audio files during live performances, generating live remixes, Beat-Jongle, and straight or tripled drops, with the ability to lock quantization settings.
Preview and Conclusion
The Denon SC5000 M is a hot device. Its predecessor was already a complete package that left nothing to be desired. With the successor, all features have been inherited, expanded, and equipped with a motorized platter that brings true vinyl feeling like no other device. It will be very interesting to see what the competition can offer in response.
