Sennheiser HD 25 - Overview of Model Differences
After more than 25 years since its introduction in 1988, the Sennheiser HD 25 is still available for purchase, and over the years, several variants have been offered, but now the overview of the differences of this headphone classic has somewhat faded.
After a long period where only 3 models were available, namely the Sennheiser HD25, the Sennheiser HD25-13, and the Sennheiser HD25 SP, in 2007, just before its 20th birthday, some innovations were introduced. Over the years, there have also been some special editions and various accessories for the DJ headphones, allowing the HD-25 to be customized as desired.
In 2016, the models were reduced again, and since then there are only 3 different Sennheiser HD25 models available for purchase. Here we will provide details on the corresponding versions and differences.
What are the current models of the Sennheiser HD-25?
Currently, Sennheiser offers only the models HD25, HD25 Plus, and HD25 Light, with HD25 and HD25 Plus being identical products and differing only in accessories.
The HD 25 Plus version includes additionally a case, velour earpads, and a coiled cable in the package. The HD 25 Light is a simpler version of this DJ headphone, previously sold under the name HD25 SP.
The Sennheiser HD25 Light differs from the big brother by its lighter weight. Furthermore, it lacks the adjustable headband with swiveling ear cups and the single-sided cable.
However, the Light version is naturally lighter and above all more affordable!

Accessories
In addition to the wide range of ear pads, headband pads, and cables, there are various bags and cases for headphones as well as various adapters for the plug. This includes an ergonomic adapter, also known as an angled plug.
Sound
In general, the sound of the HD25 differs only in the 2 versions HD25 and HD25 Light or previously HD25-SP. You can find more precise details in the respective item descriptions.
Which version of the Sennheiser HD 25 is the best solution for the DJ?
Both versions work very well as DJ headphones. Naturally, the larger version is already more suitable for stage use due to the higher sound pressure level and the wider frequency spectrum. The single-sided cable also proves to be a major advantage in the everyday use of DJ headphones.
The HD 25 Light variant is appreciated for its lightweight design and long cable and is also used as a Hi-Fi headphone for everyday and on-the-go use.
HD 25 Spare Parts - What to do when the headphones age?
The good thing about Sennheiser headphones is the easy maintenance and care that you can quickly and easily do yourself. Both Sennheiser and Zomo offer an extensive range of spare parts and accessories for the popular DJ headphones.
Almost everything on the headphones is relatively inexpensive to replace and repair with new parts, so the "relatively" high price is offset by the easy and cost-effective maintenance.
The following Sennheiser HD 25 spare parts are currently available
- Replacement ear pads in PU material
- Replacement ear pads in velour material
- Replacement capsules
- Replacement headbands
- Replacement headband
- Spiral cable in various lengths

Some items are offered directly by Sennheiser, while others are exclusively available from Zomo.
For example, Sennheiser itself offers its ear pads in velour or PU material and in only one color. The extensive Zomo range can impress with many other colors and materials that can not only improve wearing comfort but also visually enhance your headphones.
