    Product information "Boss ME-90"

The BOSS ME series has been the top choice for guitarists on stage for over three decades. It combines the power of multi-effects with an intuitive control that allows you to shape tones in seconds. The ME-90 is the most advanced model in the ME series, offering exceptional sound quality, flagship-level AIRD amp models, an effects loop, and much more. Compact, battery-powered, and packed with premium BOSS tones, this versatile all-in-one processor makes it easy to create individual sound settings for any playing situation.

With its knob-driven interface and wide selection of effects, the ME-90 allows you to create and customize tones with the ease of a pedalboard filled with stompboxes. You can easily select an amp model or effect type within a category and turn the knobs to achieve the desired sound. There are 36 preset patches with ready-to-play professional tones and 36 user patches available for storing your individual creations.

The ME-90 features eight footswitches with smooth, quiet operation and an expression pedal with an integrated toe switch. You can use the memory mode to recall complete patch setups with the footswitches and then switch to manual mode to directly toggle on/off each effect category within the patch. The footswitch LEDs light up in different colors for quick identification during a performance.

The pedal provides you with a vast library of BOSS effects. Everything you need is here, from overdrives and distortions to pitch/mod effects, delays, and high-quality reverbs. Additionally, there are 11 dedicated pedal effects, a looper, and special effects such as acoustic simulation and down-tuning. In total, there are 60 effect types to choose from, with access to over 20 more via BOSS Tone Studio.

In addition to its effects, the ME-90 includes amp models inherited from the GT-1000 and powered by advanced AIRD technology. Eleven integrated amp types offer everything from clean combo sounds to heavy high-gain stacks.

With BOSS Tone Studio for macOS and Windows, you can expand your creative horizons. You can edit sounds and replace some amp and effect types with alternative choices. Additionally, you can save and organize patches for different performances and exchange patches with the ME-90 community on BOSS Tone Exchange.

The ME-90 is lighter than its predecessor while maintaining the rugged durability for which BOSS is known. The expression pedal has also been redesigned to allow for even finer parameter control. You can power the processor with four AA batteries or an optional power supply, and a switch on the back instantly optimizes the outputs for use with a guitar amplifier or a full-range sound system like a PA.

Communication with BOSS Tone Studio is also possible, and the USB-C output allows you to use the ME-90 as a computer audio interface with your preferred music production software.

Whether you're on stage or in the studio, with the BOSS ME-90, you have the ultimate tool in your hands to take your sound to the next level.

    Great affordable simple unit

    -- Show original --

It's not a full-fledged guitar processor, but a fixed sequnce of main effects you would use with a guitar.
The number of effect variants is limited by 11 per effect slot, but in most of cases (for me) it's enough to get a good sound. The amp variants are the AIRD ones derived from GT-1000, and they sound very good, head and shoulders above the previous COSM generation of ME-80.
It has no MIDI i/o (though can accept MIDI from a PC via USB) or amp ctrl TRS; the effects order is fixed and the mono FX loop can be placed in two fixed places. (FX loop is also new after ME-80)
If you know that you are mostly interested in the AIRD amp section (including three signature Boss X-amps) with additional effects as a bonus, it's a great simple unit. Also easier to haul to gigs than bigger heavier units :) I like it a lot.

    My personal opinion...

    -- Show original --

The BOSS ME-90 is worth the money. I highly recommend it, especially as someone who doesn't want to mess around with numerous submenus of multi-effects. If there were 10 points to be awarded, I would choose "9". The variety of distortions and preamps that can be combined is large, but it is difficult to get really good-sounding combinations out of the ME-90. In my opinion, many of them are for the bin. Since I'm more of a rock musician with "not-high-gain" metal sound preferences, I could only use the combination "OD/DS: Overdrive" with "PreAmp: X-Crunch" (Highway to Hell) or Winning “OD/DS: Distortion” with “PreAmp: Diamond” for me. With the former, I also tried connecting my single pedal Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive, of course switching off "OD/DS" on the ME-90 and only leaving the preamp switched on. Unbelievable, but the sound is identical! Does anyone need a used SD-1? I was able to compare the second variant well with my Boss MT-2. The more I turn the controls I get close too. However, I miss a "bottom controller" under the OD/DS section, which I still had on the ME-50 back then. That's why I'm impressed by the ME-90's EQ. And all chorus + delay + reverb effects are also suitable for stage use. But I never use the other modulation effects like tremolo, vibrato, rotary, flanger, etc. In summary, I would say: Most devices have corners and edges. I still absolutely love it.
