Product description Boss IR-2
The Boss IR-2 Pedal allows you to deliver your distinctive sound directly to a PA system or recording setup whenever YOU need it.
At the heart of the IR-2, YOU'll find a selection of eleven high-quality amp types paired with top-notch speaker simulations (IRs) from Celestion Digital. The device offers straightforward controls for Level, Gain, Bass, Mid, and Treble. Additionally, there's an Ambience effect to add spatial depth to YOUR tone.
The Boss IR-2's mono/stereo loop allows for integrating effects after the amp emulation, which is especially useful if YOU want to use modulation, delay, or reverb effects. There's also a headphone jack for quiet practice or monitoring.
Integration with music software is facilitated by the USB-C connection, providing options for recording and audio playback on computers or iOS devices. YOU can also load your own cabinet IRs through the dedicated IR-2 IR Loader App (for macOS/Windows). A unique feature is the ability to switch between two amp/cabinet tones using the pedal switch or an external footswitch.
The Boss IR-2 is not only a tool for shaping sound but also an investment in reliability and quality. The build quality and components are of high quality, backed by Boss's five-year warranty. Furthermore, the device can be used independently as an amplifier or cabinet simulator, adding another layer of flexibility.
The Boss pedal offers exceptional audio quality, a variety of options for sound shaping, and practical features for live and studio applications. It is an essential tool for guitarists looking for a reliable, versatile, and user-friendly pedal that enhances their sound in any situation.

Important questions about the article Boss IR-2
Question: Can I connect the BOSS IR-2 directly to a PA, audio interface, or active speakers?
Answer: Yes. The pedal provides a fully processed amp and cabinet signal from its outputs, making it suitable for PA use, recording, and monitoring without a guitar amplifier.
Question: How many amp and cabinet sounds are available?
Answer: The IR-2 offers eleven amp types with matched Celestion Digital cabinet IRs. To create your own core sound, choose an amp type and adjust Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Level, and Ambience directly on the pedal.
Question: Can I use my own cabinet IRs?
Answer: Yes. You can load your own mono IRs via USB-C with the IR-2 IR Loader app for macOS or Windows; the eleven memory slots are shared with the factory cabinet IRs.
Question: Is the IR-2 suitable for a stereo setup?
Answer: The guitar input is mono, while the outputs operate in stereo. Stereo effects can be carried on in stereo after the amp simulation through the effects loop's TRS return.
Question: Where should I place delay, reverb, or modulation effects?
Answer: You can insert them after the amp emulation via Send and Return. This retains typical effects chains after the virtual amplifier.
Question: Can I practise quietly with the IR-2 without a speaker?
Answer: Yes. The headphone output provides the processed guitar sound, allowing you to practise without a connected guitar amplifier.
Question: What is USB-C on the BOSS IR-2 for?
Answer: USB-C is used to load your own IRs and for recording and audio playback with a computer or mobile device. It lets you send your pedalboard sound directly to recording software and monitor it through headphones.
Question: Can I switch between two amp and cabinet sounds?
Answer: Yes. Two amp/cabinet setups can be switched with the pedal switch or an external footswitch, which is useful for different song sections or guitars.
Question: What do I need for power?
Answer: A 9 V battery is included. Alternatively, the pedal works with a separately available BOSS PSA-series power adaptor; under continuous use, battery operation is specified at approximately 3.5 hours.
