Product description Boss VE-2

The BOSS VE-2 Vocal Harmonist effects processor proves that you don't need to spend a lot of money or lug around a pedalboard-sized device to get the vocal processing you really need.

This compact device is so easy to use that no knowledge of musical instruments or music theory is required to achieve great results, as it can be operated with just one press of a button.

This battery-powered effects pedal has everything you need to deliver fantastic studio-quality sounds — wherever you sing, whether on a big concert stage or busking on the street, while practising or simply having fun at home. The VE-2 produces wonderful, harmonious vocals based on your singing, almost as if by magic.

The harmony function automatically adapts to the chords played on the connected guitar, a preselected key, or a combination of both. Creating perfect harmonies in real time is so easy: simply select one of these three modes, even if you have little or no experience with effects units or music theory.

In addition to harmonisation, the VE-2 offers all the effects you need to enhance the sound of your voice, such as high-quality reverb/delay effects and an enhancer function to stabilise the volume or correct the pitch while singing. The integrated USB audio interface lets you record the VE-2 vocal sound on a PC for music recordings, social media videos and more.

Important questions about the article Boss VE-2

Question: Do I need a guitar to create harmonies with the Boss VE-2?

Answer: No. Without a guitar, you set the key on the unit; with a connected guitar, Auto Harmony detects the chords being played. Hybrid mode combines both methods.

Question: How many harmony types does the Boss VE-2 offer?

Answer: There are 12 harmony types, each with a variation, for a total of 24 settings. Depending on the type, the VE-2 adds one or two voices above or below your own vocal.

Question: Does the Boss VE-2 have pitch correction and vocal effects?

Answer: The Enhance function smooths the dynamics and can also activate subtle pitch correction. Reverb, delay, or a combination of both are available for ambience.

Question: Can I use a condenser microphone with the Boss VE-2?

Answer: Yes. The XLR microphone input provides phantom power for suitable condenser microphones, even when the VE-2 is battery-powered.

Question: Can I record processed vocals directly on a computer?

Answer: Yes. Via USB, the VE-2 sends the processed vocal to the computer, allowing you to record it with recording software.

Question: Can playback or karaoke from a computer be mixed with the microphone?

Answer: Yes. The Loopback function mixes computer audio playback with the microphone signal, for example for backing tracks or karaoke recordings.

Question: How flexibly can the Boss VE-2 be operated live?

Answer: Three memory locations store your own settings. The integrated footswitch switches harmony on or off or bypasses the VE-2 sound; up to two optional footswitches can be connected for more control.

Question: How is the Boss VE-2 powered?

Answer: It runs on four AA batteries or an optional BOSS PSA-series power supply. A power supply is not included.

Boss Micro BR-80

Capture song ideas straight away and develop them later: The BOSS Micro BR-80 combines a multitrack recorder, a stereo field recorder and a jam station in one compact device. In Live Rec mode with two built-in condenser microphones, you can record rehearsals, concerts or spontaneous ideas in stereo without needing an external microphone. In MTR mode, you have eight playback tracks and a total of 64 V-Tracks available; up to two tracks can be recorded simultaneously. An additional stereo drum track, along with COSM amplifiers and effects for guitar, bass, vocals and mastering, support your songwriting directly on the device. This lets you develop a recording further and save multiple takes on the V-Tracks. The eBand mode for backing tracks and phrase training complements the recording functions with built-in backing and rhythm patterns. Stereo recordings from Live Rec can be transferred to MTR mode and edited there; you can then use finished songs as backing tracks in eBand mode. This means the device accompanies you from the first sketch through to the jam track. For external sources, there is a switchable guitar/microphone input and a stereo line input. You can connect headphones or a sound system to PHONES/LINE-OUT. Via USB Mini-B, the recorder works as an audio interface with 24-bit and 44.1 kHz or as a mass storage device; USB bus power is also supported. You can save recordings directly to SD or SDHC cards with capacities of up to 32 GB. Power is supplied by two AA batteries, rechargeable AA batteries, USB bus power or an optional PSA power adaptor. At 140 g and 22 mm high, the BR-80 fits into mobile setups and is suitable for musicians who want to record on the go, practise along with playback or develop song ideas into multitrack demos without a computer. Boss SY-1

Playing synthesizer sounds directly from a guitar or bass without installing a dedicated pickup system is the approach behind the BOSS SY-1 as a compact effects pedal. Connect your instrument with a 6.3 mm jack cable and select the appropriate mode for guitar or bass using the switch. The 121 polyphonic sounds can be accessed without synthesizer programming and adjusted using the controls. The sound palette comprises eleven categories, each with eleven variations. These include leads, pads, basses, strings, organs, metallic-sounding bells, as well as sound effects and rhythmically modulated sequences. This lets you play both individual melody notes and chords with synthesizer sounds. The Type, Variation, Tone/Rate and Depth controls shape the selected sound directly on the pedal. Use Effect and Direct to set the volume of the synthesizer and unprocessed instrument signals separately. This lets you mix the two sounds or turn down the direct sound. The Send/Return loop incorporates additional effects pedals into the instrument signal path; when they are connected, the Direct control adjusts their level. For live use, the Sound Hold function sustains the last synthesizer sound played while you continue playing your instrument. Activate it by holding down the pedal switch while the effect is on. A compatible footswitch or expression pedal can be connected to the EXP/CTL connection. When a footswitch is connected, the Sound Hold function is assigned to it. The compact pedal does not require its own memory or programming process: select the sound type and variation using the corresponding controls, and adjust the sound parameters directly on the unit. The SY-1 is based on the technology of the SY-300. For correct operation, the pedal should be placed at the beginning of the effects chain; a guitar or bass signal that has already been processed by effects can interfere with synthesizer detection. Powered by batteries or a separately available BOSS PSA-series power supply, the pedal fits into a compact live or practice setup. It is suitable for guitarists and bassists looking for polyphonic synthesizer sounds, separate levels for the direct and effect signals, and controls located directly on the pedal. The guitar/bass switching and effects loop are practical considerations when integrating it into an existing pedalboard. Features BOSS SY-1 Compact guitar and bass synthesizer pedal for synthesizer sounds via a standard jack cable GUITAR/BASS switch for adapting the pedal to guitar or bass 121 sounds in eleven categories with eleven variations each Polyphonic sound generation for individual notes and chords Sound groups: LEAD 1/2, PAD, BASS, STR, ORGAN, BELL, SFX 1/2 and SEQ 1/2 Controls for TYPE, VARIATION, TONE/RATE, DEPTH, EFFECT and DIRECT Separate level control for the synthesizer and direct signals SEND/RETURN loop for incorporating additional effects into the instrument signal path SOUND HOLD sustains the synthesizer sound while you continue playing EXP/CTL connection for compatible external footswitches and expression pedals Powered by a 9 V alkaline battery or a BOSS PSA-series power supply Compact BOSS pedal housing Specifications ConnectionsINPUT 6.3 mm jack | OUTPUT 6.3 mm jack | SEND 6.3 mm jack | RETURN 6.3 mm jack | EXP/CTL 6.3 mm stereo jack | DC IN Power supply9 V alkaline battery (6LR61) | BOSS PSA-series power supply, available separately Current draw115 mA Battery life with continuous useapprox. 2 hours Weight including battery0.45 kg Dimensions (W x D x H)73 x 129 x 59 mm Package contents BOSS SY-1 guitar and bass synthesizer pedal 9 V battery Quick-start guide Warranty and safety information

Boss DD-8 Digital Delay

When a pedal needs to cover both short rhythmic echoes and long, moving soundscapes, the choice of delay types is crucial. The BOSS DD-8 Digital Delay combines eleven delay and loop modes in a compact pedal and can be used in mono and stereo setups. The modes range from clear standard digital delay to analogue and tape sounds, as well as reverse, modulation and shimmer effects. Warm produces softer digital repeats, while +RV combines delay with reverb. Warp responds to sustained pressure on the pedal switch: feedback and level rise, creating swelling ambient sounds. GLT delivers rhythmic, glitch-like effects whose character you can adjust using the Feedback and Time controls. The stereo inputs and outputs support three output modes: independent, parallel delays; panning with ping-pong repeats; and Wide Stereo for a broader sound image. The intelligent jacks adapt the signal routing to the connections. This allows mono, stereo and wet/dry configurations, among others, as well as operation with the effect signal only. For tempo control, you can use the pedal switch to tap in the tempo; the maximum delay time is ten seconds. You can connect an expression pedal or up to two external footswitches to the TEMPO/EXP jack. An expression pedal controls delay level, feedback or delay time, while external switches can take on additional functions such as tap tempo, expanded looper control and the Twist effect. The Carryover function lets you choose whether the echoes fade out or stop immediately when bypassed. In Loop mode, you can record for up to 40 seconds via the mono input or 20 seconds via the stereo input, then add further passes as overdubs. The internal switch controls the basic functions; external footswitches can extend operation with stop and erase functions. The DD-8 fits pedalboards where several delay characters, stereo routing and a looper are required. External real-time control and selectable Carryover also make it interesting for setups where you want to change tempos and effect sweeps while playing. Features BOSS DD-8 Digital Delay Compact digital delay pedal for guitar and other instruments Eleven modes: Analog, Standard, Tape, Warm, Reverse, +RV, Shimmer, Mod, Warp, GLT and Loop Warp mode with rising feedback and level when the pedal switch is held down GLT mode for glitch-like rhythmic effects, adjustable via the Feedback and Time controls Looper with overdub function and up to 40 seconds of recording in mono or 20 seconds in stereo Stereo inputs and outputs with independent, panning and Wide Stereo output modes Supported signal routing for mono, stereo, wet/dry and effect signal only Tap tempo via the pedal switch and up to ten seconds of delay time Connection for an expression pedal to control effect level, feedback or delay time Connection for up to two footswitches for additional control, including tap tempo, looper functions and the Twist effect Carryover switch to let the delay repeats fade out or stop immediately when bypassed Technical specifications Nominal input level-20 dBu Input impedance1 MΩ Nominal output level-20 dBu Output impedance1 kΩ Recommended load impedanceat least 10 kΩ Bypassbuffered ControlsMODE knob | TIME knob | FEEDBACK knob | E.LEVEL knob | CARRYOVER switch | Pedal switch ConnectionsINPUT-A (MONO) and INPUT-B, 6.3 mm jack | OUTPUT-A (MONO) and OUTPUT-B, 6.3 mm jack | TEMPO/EXP, 6.3 mm TRS jack | DC IN Power supply9 V alkaline battery (6LR61) | PSA series AC adaptor, not included Current draw100 mA Battery lifeapprox. 3.5 hours with alkaline battery Weight0.44 kg including battery Dimensions (W x D x H)73 x 129 x 59 mm Included in the box BOSS DD-8 Digital Delay digital delay pedal 9 V battery User manual Warranty and safety information

Boss SD-1

From the very first time you switch it on, the SD-1 from Boss reveals its unique character. The asymmetrical clipping circuit produces a warm, dynamic overdrive that feels like a naturally overdriven valve amp – even at moderate volume. This makes the pedal particularly versatile and lets you shape your tone with subtle control through your playing dynamics or your guitar’s volume knob. Compared with conventional overdrive pedals, the SD-1 focuses on clearly defined mids, a controlled bass range and cutting highs. This ensures that your sound always sits precisely in the mix – whether you’re playing rhythmic chugging or singing leads. Especially when paired with clean or lightly overdriven amps, the pedal delivers punchy, musical distortion that works brilliantly in genres such as blues, classic rock and country. If you play a high-gain amplifier, you can also use the SD-1 as an effective booster. The sound remains transparent while your signal gains more focus and definition. This means extra clarity and control, especially for solos or demanding riffs, without altering the character of your setup. The SD-1 also works brilliantly in front of other distortion pedals – it brings out details and adds depth to your sound. Despite its long history, the SD-1 feels more relevant than ever today. It scores with an intuitive layout consisting of three clearly arranged controls for Drive, Tone and Level. Once set, it reliably delivers an inspiring sound – whether in your home studio or on a large stage. Its robust construction and reliable electronics reinforce the SD-1’s reputation as a true workhorse among overdrives. Features Boss SD-1 Compact overdrive pedal with classic valve sound and dynamic playing feel Unique asymmetrical clipping circuit for harmonically rich distortion Versatile, from gentle crunch to a singing lead sound Can be used with clean and crunch amps as well as high-gain setups Also ideal as a booster in front of other distortion pedals or amplifiers Three controls for Drive, Tone and Level for easy tone shaping Excellent response to playing style and guitar volume Rugged housing with proven BOSS quality Can be powered by a 9V battery or an optional power supply Five-year manufacturer’s warranty Technical Specifications Nominal input level-20 dBu Input impedance1 MΩ Nominal output level-20 dBu Output impedance1 kΩ Recommended load impedance10 kΩ or higher Bypass circuitBuffered (Buffered Bypass) ControlsDrive | Tone | Level controls | Footswitch IndicatorCheck LED (also indicates battery status) Connections6.3 mm jack input | 6.3 mm jack output | Power supply connection (DC IN) Power supply9V zinc-carbon battery (6F22) | 9V alkaline battery (6LR61) | PSA series power supply (available separately) Current draw10 mA Battery life under continuous useZinc-carbon approx. 60 hours | Alkaline approx. 90 hours Weight0.41 kg Dimensions (W x D x H)73 x 129 x 59 mm Package Contents Boss SD-1 overdrive pedal Carbon-zinc battery (9 V, 6F22) Owner’s manual and safety instructions

Boss VE 22 Top View
Boss VE-22

Processing vocals live with harmonies, echo or targeted pitch correction can quickly require several separate devices. The BOSS VE-22 combines these tasks in a vocal multi-effects unit with looper and is designed for the stage, practice, recording and livestreaming. There are 39 effect types for vocals: alongside compressor, EQ, de-esser, delay, echo and reverb, you also get sound-shaping effects such as Lo-Fi, Distortion, Radio and Modulation. Automatic pitch correction ranges from subtle adjustment to distinctly electronic sounds. With Harmony and Doubler, you can create multi-part effects from a single vocal line. For harmonies, you choose the type and key of the song; you can then assign the effect to a switch and turn it on or off during your performance. Three customisable switches can be operated with your foot or hand. The colour display and multifunction control guide you through the settings; Harmony, effect and echo parameters are directly accessible. 50 presets are available straight away, with a further 99 memory locations for your own setups. The XLR microphone input has a preamp, adjustable input sensitivity and switchable 48 V phantom power for compatible condenser microphones. The two XLR outputs can be configured for stereo, dual mono or a wet/dry signal. There is also a stereo mini-jack output for headphones or line signals. You can feed backing music in via the Aux input; it is mixed to the outputs and headphone output. Via USB-C, the VE-22 records audio with a computer or mobile device and plays audio back. Compatibility with every third-party software application or device is not guaranteed; you need a USB-C cable that supports data transfer. The phrase looper with up to 37 seconds is suitable for practice, live performances and capturing musical ideas. For additional control, you can connect an expression pedal or up to two external footswitches to the CTL-1,2/EXP jack. The unit runs on four AA batteries or a separately available PSA-S series adaptor. This makes it suitable for vocal setups where you want to combine vocal effects, switchable harmonies and direct connections for a PA, headphones or recording equipment. Oyaide Neo d+ - 2x 6,3mm Jack - 2x 6,3mm Jack

For separate analogue signal paths between a mixer, audio interface, monitors or effects units, you need suitable jack connections at both ends. The Oyaide Neo d+ connects two 6.3 mm mono jacks to two more and is designed for studio, recording and live connections. The flat cable routes the conductors in a twisted-pair structure and has double shielding made from a tinned wire surface and aluminium foil. Together with the oxygen-free copper (18 AWG), this construction is designed to maintain constant electrostatic capacitance between the conductors and reduce electromagnetic interference. The generous conductor diameter is intended to limit signal loss, even over longer cable runs. The plug contacts are made of a 24-carat gold-plated bronze alloy. The construction also includes a TPE outer sheath and an aluminium outer sheath with PBT and 30% fibreglass. The flat design makes it easier to route multiple cables neatly in your setup; the d+ class B range comprises six cable types. The cable is suitable for devices with two analogue 6.3 mm mono jack connections at each end, such as mixers, interfaces, monitor speakers or effects units. With lengths of 1, 2 and 3 metres available, you can adapt the connection to the distance between your devices.
