Product description Boss SL-2 Slicer
The SL-2 offers the power of BOSS' original SL-20 pedal in a much more pedalboard-friendly format, allowing you to chop and slice the signal into complex rhythms and percussive grooves.
There are 11 different rhythms to choose from, and the tempo can be set either with the knob or by activating the tap tempo function. In addition, the Type knob offers five different slice variations - Single, Dual, Tremolo, Harmonic, and SFX - that set it apart from conventional tremolo sounds!
The SL-2 is packed with high-end features like MIDI input, expression/control input, stereo I/O and a dedicated BOSS app for even more patterns.

Important questions about the article Boss SL-2 Slicer
Question: What does the BOSS SL-2 Slicer do?
Answer: It chops an audio signal into rhythmic, percussive patterns and processes them with additional internal effects depending on the type. This creates moving groove and stutter effects rather than a classic tremolo sound.
Question: How many patterns are available without additional software?
Answer: The pedal stores 88 patterns: eight types with eleven variations each. The types range from Single and Dual to Tremolo, Harmonic, and SFX.
Question: Do I need a computer or the BOSS Tone Studio app for operation?
Answer: No. Patterns and tempo can be set directly on the pedal; BOSS Tone Studio for macOS and Windows connects via USB for additional patterns and organising memory locations.
Question: Can I use the SL-2 in a mono or stereo setup?
Answer: Yes, its inputs and outputs support mono and stereo. In stereo operation, seven output modes are available, including Ping-Pong, EFX/Direct, and 3D variants.
Question: Can the SL-2 be synchronised with a drum machine or DAW?
Answer: Yes, it can receive MIDI Clock via its TRS MIDI input and follow an external tempo. Bypass, tempo, and expression functions can also be controlled via MIDI CC.
Question: Can I connect external footswitches or an expression pedal?
Answer: Yes. Up to two footswitches can be connected for functions such as tap tempo or momentary activation; alternatively, an expression pedal can control parameters or level.
Question: Is a power supply included?
Answer: No. A 9 V battery is included, while a suitable power supply must be used separately if required.
Question: What distinguishes the SL-2 from the older BOSS SL-20?
Answer: The SL-2 continues the SL-20 Slicer concept in a much more compact pedal format and expands it with more pattern and control options. It is therefore better suited to space-saving pedalboards.
