    Product information "Teenage Engineering OP-1"

The Swedish manufacturer Teenage Engineering presents the Operator 1, an all-in-one portable synthesizer, sampler and controller. Teenage Engineering OP–1 gives your creativity limitless possibilities. You can arrange the sound very easily using the built-in synthesizer engines, multiple effects and LFO’s. The OP-1 combines multiple synth engines, sampler, four sequencer types, tape-style 4-track recorder, motion sensor, and an FM radio to offer a truly unique palette of tools. It’s also equipped with a 3.5mm headphone output for monitoring, a 3.5mm line input to connect audio gear for sampling, and a USB 2.0 port.

Use the 4 rotary encoders and 8 x 2 dedicated quick keys for fast selections. Record everything on the built in 4-track tape or switch to the 4 channel mixer and add some texture with the built in EQ and Drive (mixer mode). Furthermore the OP-1 features a sampler with two distinct modes of operation: synthesizer mode and drum mode.

Synthesizer mode gives you 6 seconds of sample time and is great for creating synth-style patches using your own samples. Using the sampler in drum mode, you get 12 seconds of sample time and you can map different sections of the sample to each key, instead of mapping pitch variations like you can in synthesizer mode.

Connect the synthesizer to your computer and control your DAW with the common play, stop, rec, forward and rewind. When plugged to a mac/pc using USB, the OP-1 shows up as a mass storage device. Ready for you to drag and drop audio files between your computer and the OP-1.
Authentically portable, the OP-1 also features a built-in speaker and a rechargeable Li-Ion battery with up to 16 hours of life. On top of all that, it’s housed in a rugged gray-finished aluminum chassis, making it just as suitable for live gigs as it is for studio production or home beatmaking.

    Extremely satisfied

If one should be in stock again: strike. Top workstation in miniature format. Invites you to spontaneously jam and make music like no other device. There may be some limitations, but that's what makes it so appealing. You don't have infinite tracks and tens of gigabytes of multi-sampled orchestral libraries, you have to deal with the trimmed tracks and sound or trick (overdubbing)

Small device, very expensive, but ultra many possibilities in a small portable mini format. Sampler, umpteen forms of synthesis, very long-lasting battery. The thing is ideal for mobile music production. Just sample something on the fly and make music. The part will never give up again!
