Pioneer DJM-S9-N

When scratch mixing, faders and effects need to be within easy reach and tailored to your own style. The Pioneer DJM-S9-N is a two-channel battle mixer for Serato DJ with a customisable crossfader, performance pads and freely assignable FX controls. The gold-coloured special edition is limited to 500 units worldwide; each unit bears its own serial number plate.

The magnetic Magvel Fader Pro is designed for precise scratch movements. You can adjust the resistance, fader curve and reverse setting; damping, cut-in and the neutral position can also be adjusted. Depending on their assignment, the colour-coded performance pads trigger loops, cues, samples and rolls, or other Serato functions. A display shows the selected pad mode.

For spontaneous effect changes, onboard and Serato FX are available: six Beat FX buttons and six buttons for Serato effects can be assigned across two banks. You can use the large levers on each channel to trigger effects briefly or latch them, then quickly switch them off again when needed. There are also 15 internal beat effects, filter and release effects, and a Wet/Dry switch per channel.

Two USB sound cards and the easily accessible input selector make it easier to switch DJs; the mixer can switch between the four Serato decks. With DVS control, you can operate Serato DJ Pro using control vinyl or CDs and connected turntables or CDJs. A Core plan or higher is required for DVS with rekordbox. The integrated effects and pads can also be used for tap performances without DJ software.

Inputs for CD/Line, Phono, microphone and AUX accommodate a range of sources. The microphone input features Echo FX and a preamp; a clipping indicator warns of excessive input levels, while a peak limiter helps prevent distortion at the master output. An integrated 3-band isolator, MIDI assignment via USB and adjustable brightness round out the controls.

With separate master and booth outputs, two headphone connections and two USB sound cards for DJ changes, the DJM-S9-N is suited to scratch and Serato setups with turntables or CDJs. The gold-plated finish is aimed at DJs looking for the same features in a limited special edition.
