Hercules DJ Mixing Console RMX

For a DJ mix with digital tracks and external players, the Hercules DJ Console RMX combines a controller and audio interface in one housing. It connects to a PC or Mac via USB and is suitable for mobile DJing as well as use in a club or studio. The non-slip all-metal housing and footprint of approximately 35 x 25 cm combine a stable surface with a portable format.

Two jog wheels let you scratch or search within a track. You can switch their function using the Scratch button; sensitivity and resistance can be adjusted. The mixer also gives you a crossfader, pitch faders with a centre detent and a master fader. 12 rotary controls, 46 buttons and six faders distribute the key functions across the two deck sections.

The integrated audio interface provides two stereo input pairs for external sources. Use the Source button to switch each deck between computer audio and its input; the inputs can be set to line or phono level. This lets you connect CD players, samplers, grooveboxes or turntables, for example. Four separate outputs let you connect a PA or hi-fi system and monitor separately via the second output path.

Microphone and headphone connections are located on both the front and top of the housing. This makes them easier to access when the Console is installed in a rack. However, only one socket of each type can be used at a time; for the microphone and headphones, the top connection takes priority in each case. The Talkover function automatically lowers the music during a microphone announcement. Talkover and separate monitoring support announcements and cueing during operation.

VirtualDJ 5 DJC Edition for PC and Mac is included; its layout is tailored to the controller. The RMX also works as a MIDI controller with MIDI-based DJ software; specific compatibility depends on the software in question. Supported music files include MP3, AIFF, WAV, WMA and OGG, as well as CD audio and the iTunes library. A computer is required for operation; the device does not work standalone and is powered via USB.

This makes the RMX suitable for computer-based setups in which you want to combine digital tracks with external line or phono sources. The choice between RCA and jack outputs, the dual microphone and headphone sockets, and the metal housing are practical considerations for connections and placement. A compact solution for mobile and fixed DJ setups with an integrated audio interface and MIDI control.
