This mixing console is particularly flexible in creating monitor mixes, as it provides up to 12 stereo mixes (groups or auxiliaries) in addition to the main LR output. Eight stereo FX engines deliver studio-quality effects with dedicated returns.

Out of the box, the SQ-5 offers an impressive 48 input channels and is equipped with 17 faders for a hands-on mixing experience. These faders are arranged in six fader layers, making it easier to manage larger mixes. Additionally, the console features a SLink port for remote audio and expansion, as well as a 64-channel I/O port for network audio integration.

A special highlight is the Automatic Microphone Mixing, which is a tremendous help in multi-microphone setups. It provides a kind of "safety net," especially when relying on inexperienced volunteers for sound management. With this feature, you can be sure that there will never be excessive imbalance between microphone levels in large multi-microphone applications.

The SQ-5 makes multitrack recording a breeze, thanks to its built-in 32 x 32 USB audio interface. The ability to record directly to a USB stick is also supported. Another 64-channel I/O port is available for network audio connection. The SLink port allows for remote audio and I/O expansion.

Allen & Heath offers two free apps that enhance the SQ5 experience: The SQ MixPad app for engineers allows remote access to all main mixing functions and offers offline editing for show preparation. The SQ4You app for performers allows up to eight performers to create their own monitor mixes, allowing the sound engineer to focus on the main mix.
