Product description Alesis DM Dock

An iPad can serve as a sound source in an e-drum setup when pads and triggers are connected directly. The Alesis DM Dock connects drum triggers to iPad music apps and provides 13 trigger inputs as well as audio and MIDI connections. You can use it to play drum and cymbal pads and route the sound output through headphones or a PA system.

The trigger inputs support dual-zone pads, triple-zone rides and hi-hat pedals. Cymbals with multiple choke zones and acoustic drum triggers can also be connected. Which functions are available also depends on the pads and the app being used. The Dock is designed for iPad and iPad 2 and supports CoreMIDI-compatible apps, including GarageBand.

For audio output, there are balanced 6.3 mm stereo outputs and a 6.3 mm headphone output with a volume control. A 3.5 mm stereo input accepts external audio sources. You can connect additional MIDI equipment via the MIDI inputs and outputs; USB-MIDI connects the Dock to a Mac or PC.

An assignable footswitch input can be used to switch drum kits, operate the metronome or start and stop sequences. The included universal power supply powers the Dock and charges a connected iPad. The foldable housing encloses the tablet; a separately available Alesis Module Mount can be used to attach it to a drum rack or stand. The iPad is not included.

The Dock is suitable for e-drum setups in which a compatible iPad and a CoreMIDI app handle sound generation. Trigger, audio and MIDI connections in one device make it suitable for use in the studio or on stage when you want to connect pads directly to the tablet and route the signals to headphones, a PA system or MIDI hardware.
