Synq SMP 16.42

For live mixing, separate groups help you control several channels together and route them to the main mix. The Synq SMP 16.42 is a 16-channel PA mixing desk with four subgroups and independent submasters; USB input and output and internal DSP effects round out its features for live sound and recording.

The 12 balanced input channels comprise eight mono and four stereo channels. The mono channels have input gain, an insert and a 75 Hz high-pass filter. The 3-band EQ has a parametric mid frequency selectable between 100 Hz and 8 kHz; the stereo channels have a 4-band EQ. The peak indicator responds 5 dB below clipping, and 60 mm faders control the channel levels. Mute, PFL and bus assignment support monitoring and routing for each channel.

For monitor and effects sends, there is one pre-fader AUX send and another AUX send that can be switched between pre and post. The separate EFX send is post-fader and feeds both the internal effects processor and the connection for external effects. The internal 24-bit DSP unit with 100 presets can be switched on and off via a footswitch; effects can also be assigned to the AUX buses.

The USB input and output provide the computer connection. The main mix can be sent to a computer for recording; alternatively, USB SEND can output the two AUX sends as an independent stereo mix. The USB playback signal enters the main mix via the Tape input and can be adjusted separately. USB recording with a selectable AUX mix is therefore also possible independently of the main output level.

Four subgroups with their own submasters, as well as balanced Main L/R and subgroup outputs, form the central output section. A 7-band equaliser processes the master mix; two ten-segment LED meters indicate the signal level. Headphone and control room outputs are available for monitoring. 19-inch mounting brackets are included; power is supplied by an external power supply.

The mixing desk is suited to live sound and smaller recording setups that require multiple sources, separate monitor sends and group routing. Its combination of multiple inputs, built-in effects and USB recording makes it a standalone mixing hub for PA and recording.
