Product description Crown XLS-402 II
With a passive PA system, in addition to power, it is important to know which speaker impedances the power amplifier supports and how it can be integrated into the rack. The Crown XLS-402 II is a two-channel power amplifier with 2 × 400 watts at 4 ohms, designed for stereo or mono bridge operation.
In stereo mode, you can connect speakers with an impedance of 4 to 8 ohms; a load of 8 ohms is specified for bridge mode. The channel-specific, detented level controls are on the front panel. The power switch and status indicators are also located on the front: the LEDs indicate power, clipping and activation of the protection circuit.
Electronically balanced XLR connectors serve as inputs. Speaker connections are provided by touch-proof binding posts and a four-pole Speakon socket. The Speakon connection is intended for directly connecting actively divided speaker systems. Two fans draw cooling air through the housing from front to back.
The 2U steel housing for 19-inch racks is 48.3 cm wide and 8.9 cm high. The specified depth of 35.6 cm is measured behind the front panel. A rear-mounted circuit breaker is located next to the IEC mains connection; the power amplifier is designed for a supply of 230 to 240 V AC at 50 Hz.
With an input sensitivity of 1.025 V for rated power at 4 ohms, you can match the model to a preamplifier or mixer using the output level. The Crown is suitable for rack installations in PA and fixed installations where 400 watts per channel at 4 ohms, XLR inputs and Speakon or binding post connections are required.
