American DJ Spot 5R Vizi

A tightly focused spot can be targeted on stage and dance floor, while gobos and colours change the lighting effect. The American DJ Vizi Spot 5R is a moving head with a Philips Platinum 5R discharge lamp, which operates at 8,000 K and is designed for a lifespan of 2,000 hours. Its even spot has a beam angle of 18 degrees.

DMX, Master/Slave, Stand Alone and Sound Active are available for control. In DMX mode, the unit uses 13 channels; RDMX allows the DMX address to be changed from a DMX console. The LED menu with four buttons is used to adjust the unit. Automatic X-Y repositioning corrects the position after unexpected movement.

The colour wheel offers seven dichroic colours and white, including UV. The separate gobo wheel contains eight interchangeable, rotating gobos – four metal and four glass – as well as an open spot position. The gobo and colour wheels work independently; scroll and shake effects add further movement to the patterns.

A triple prism with macros multiplies the projected image. For lighting changes, a dimmer from 0 to 100 per cent and a shutter with pulse effect and strobe adjustable from slow to fast are available. Autofocus helps bring the projection into focus.

The head moves through 360 degrees on the pan axis and 270 degrees on the tilt axis as standard; a 540-degree pan movement is optional. Microstepping motors drive the movements. 3- and 5-pin XLR inputs and outputs provide the DMX connection. The switch-mode power supply is designed for 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz.

Weighing 12 kg and supplied with a mounting bracket, the Vizi Spot 5R can be integrated into lighting systems for stages, clubs and events. The 18-degree spot with gobos and prism is suited to setups requiring focused projections and moving lighting effects.
