When two separate light outputs are to fill the room with moving RGB patterns, the American DJ Dual Gem LED can be operated without an external controller. The dual LED moonflower projects red, green and blue beams onto dance floors, walls or ceilings, making it suitable for mobile DJ setups and indoor spaces.

Once switched on, the pre-programmed patterns run in music-controlled stand-alone mode. A built-in microphone picks up sound; its sensitivity is factory-set and cannot be adjusted on the unit. Low frequencies such as bass trigger the response more reliably than quiet or high-pitched sounds.

The two LED panels produce a wide spread of beams. The light output is visually compared with two 250 W halogen lamps. The beams are more visible in the room in light haze. The LEDs have a stated lifespan of up to 100,000 hours and consume little power; according to the product information, this allows several units to be operated on one phase.

The unit is intended for indoor use. An adjustable mounting bracket is integrated for installation. A built-in 2 A circuit breaker protects the electrical circuit and can be reset after tripping.

With its compact dimensions, low weight and automatic music control, this effect is suited to mobile DJ and party lighting setups where RGB patterns are required without a separate lighting desk.
