American DJ Dotz Bar 1.4

At short lighting distances, a wash bar should colour the area evenly without creating visible colour fringes between the primary colours. The American DJ Dotz Bar 1.4 combines four RGB COB LEDs in a linear bar and can be used as a wash effect or for pixel mapping. It is designed for DJs, bands, smaller stages and clubs.

COB technology blends red, green and blue evenly. In pixel mode, you can control the four light points individually; this works in the 12- or 17-channel DMX modes. A pixel flip function changes the pixel orientation to suit the installation. The 25-degree beam angle is particularly suited to use at shorter distances.

For operation without an external lighting desk, auto-run, sound-activated operation and built-in programmes are available. Via DMX, you can choose from five channel modes with 3, 6, 8, 12 or 17 channels; RDM is also supported. The 3-pin XLR connectors are used for the DMX connection, while the four-button LCD display is used to adjust the unit.

Brightness can be electronically dimmed from 0 to 100 per cent. Five dimming curves—standard, stage, TV, architecture and cinema—adapt the dimming response to the intended application. Pulse and strobe effects, as well as pre-installed colours and shows, are available for colour changes and accents. Flicker-free operation during filming is also relevant for camera applications.

The IEC power connectors allow several units to be powered in a daisy chain: a maximum of ten Dotz Bar 1.4 units at 120 V or 22 at 230 V. The bar operates on an automatically detected mains voltage of 100 to 240 V. A simple mounting bracket is included; with 48 W power consumption, its power requirements remain modest even at full LED output.

The Dotz Bar 1.4 is suited to setups that call for a compact wash bar with individually controllable pixels, multiple DMX modes and stand-alone programmes. For DJs, bands and smaller stages, the wash and pixel mapping modes, 25-degree beam angle and daisy-chain power connection are key selection criteria.
