Product description Alesis IO Dock
An iPad can only be connected directly to microphones, instruments and MIDI devices in the studio or on stage if the appropriate connections are available. The Alesis IO Dock as an iPad audio dock adds audio, MIDI and video connections to the iPad, iPad 2 and 3rd-generation iPad, while also serving as a protective case for the tablet.
Two XLR/jack combo sockets accept microphones and line signals; each input has its own gain control. 48 V phantom power for both XLR inputs can be switched on for condenser microphones. Channel 2 can be switched to operate as a high-impedance guitar input, making it suitable for guitar or bass signals with amp and effects simulation apps.
For monitoring, there are two balanced 6.3 mm jack outputs for monitors or a PA, as well as a separate headphone output. You can adjust the levels of the main output and headphones independently. With the Direct Monitor switch, you can monitor the input signals without processing by the iPad.
You can connect external keyboards, sound modules or other MIDI devices via the MIDI In and MIDI Out DIN sockets. The USB connection transfers MIDI data between the dock and computer; audio signals are not transmitted via USB. An assignable 6.3 mm footswitch input can remotely control app functions. A composite video output in RCA format is also provided; its use requires a compatible app.
The dock supports Core MIDI and works with audio and MIDI apps for iPad. It is class-compliant and requires no additional drivers. For recording and live setups with compatible iPads, it brings the required audio and MIDI connections together in a docking station; compatibility is limited to the iPad, iPad 2 and 3rd-generation iPad.
