For DJ monitoring, a closed-back design helps block out ambient noise, while a single-sided cable connection makes cable routing easier. The AKG K619 combines these features with an integrated microphone and an in-line volume control. This makes it suitable for DJ applications as well as portable music playback.

The dynamic, closed-back system covers a frequency range of 16 Hz to 24 kHz. Its sensitivity is 115 dB SPL/V, its input impedance is 32 Ohms and its maximum input power is 2000 mW. The closed-back construction helps attenuate ambient noise; the specified sound pressure level describes the headphone’s sensitivity.

The integrated control houses the microphone and volume control. The microphone and remote control are supported with certain Apple devices, including iPod nano (4th generation and later), iPod classic with 120 or 160 GB, iPod touch (2nd generation and later), iPhone 3GS and 4, as well as iPad and iPad 2. With iPod shuffle (3rd generation and later), the remote control is supported, but the microphone is not. Depending on the device, an up-to-date software version may be required.

The permanently attached cable exits one side of the ear cup and ends in a 3.5 mm jack plug. It is 1.20 m long; a 1.00 m extension cable is included. You can use the included adapter to connect the headphones to 6.3 mm jack sockets.

For transport and storage, the ear cups can be folded flat using the 3D-Axis folding mechanism. A carrying pouch is included. At 215 g without the cable, the model remains comparatively lightweight and suits DJ setups as well as portable use, provided the connections and Apple remote control functions are compatible with your devices.
