Closed-back headphones should reduce external noise without making the sound feel confined. The AKG K 550 combines this design with spacious reproduction and is aimed at you if you want to listen to music at home or on the go. 50 mm drivers provide the foundation for sound from hi-fi systems and portable devices.

The large ear cups enclose your ears; the lightweight headband is designed for longer listening sessions. The closed-back housing also reduces sound leakage to the outside. AKG's Real Image Engineering supports the spatial perception of width, distance and depth. Passive noise isolation also helps reduce ambient noise while listening.

For transport, the ear cups fold flat using the 2D-Axis folding mechanism. The permanently attached, three-metre cable gives you room to move when seated at a hi-fi system. The gold-plated jack plug fits many mobile devices with its 3.5 mm connection; the supplied screw-on adapter provides a 6.3 mm connection.

With an impedance of 32 ohms and a sensitivity of 114 dB SPL/V, the headphones are designed for use with hi-fi systems and many portable playback devices. For stationary and mobile music listening, the K 550 is a suitable choice if you are looking for closed-back over-ear headphones with large drivers, a long cable and foldable ear cups.
