When a passive PA speaker is to combine several woofers in one cabinet for music and speech, the right amplifier power and connections are essential. The Omnitronic VFM-2212 is a passive 2-way bass reflex speaker with two 12-inch woofers and a 1-inch compression driver. It is suitable for mobile DJ and live applications as well as permanent indoor installations.

The two 30 cm low/mid-range drivers have 40 mm voice coils; a 25 mm compression driver handles the high frequencies. The speaker has a nominal power handling of 150 W RMS and a programme power handling of 300 W. As it is passive, you need a suitable power amplifier. Its impedance is 8 ohms; when connecting several speakers in parallel, the amplifier must also be able to handle the correspondingly lower total impedance.

Two locking speaker sockets are available for connection: INPUT receives the signal from the power amplifier, while LINK passes it through to another speaker. Both sockets are wired in parallel. This lets you connect a second speaker without using a separate output on the power amplifier.

The plastic cabinet has a protective grille and carry handles. You can set up the speaker upright, use it as a floor monitor or mount it on a speaker stand with a suitable flange; a suitable wall bracket can also be used. The various positioning options suit mobile sound reinforcement and installations, provided the respective bracket is suitable for the weight and application.

At 12 kg, the model remains manageable to transport. The Omnitronic VFM-2212 is suited to DJ and live setups that require a passive speaker with two 12-inch woofers, 150 W RMS power handling and several mounting options. The suitable setup requires an 8-ohm power amplifier and is intended for indoor use.
