Omnitronic PM-4010

Multiple playback sources, microphones and separate monitoring paths require sufficient connections and clearly assigned controls at the DJ booth. The Omnitronic PM-4010 is a 4+1-channel DJ mixer with four input channels and an additional DJ microphone channel. Gain, 3-band EQ, Cue button, fader and ten-segment LED level meter support the adjustment and monitoring of the four channel signals.

For source selection, ten stereo line inputs and two switchable phono/line inputs are available on the rear panel. Another line input is located on the front and accepts stereo RCA or a 3.5 mm jack. This also lets you connect a source with a short cable run. The DJ microphone channel with XLR/jack combo socket has its own 3-band EQ, volume control, and On-Air and Talkover switches. Two additional balanced microphone inputs use 6.3 mm jacks.

Each of the four input channels has its own gain and tone controls for treble, midrange and bass. The rotary controls and rubber buttons are illuminated in colour; a ten-segment LED meter per channel displays the level. For transitions, the replaceable VCA crossfader can be assigned to the channels. Its curve is adjustable, and the reverse function reverses the crossfade direction. The fader start function lets you control compatible playback equipment via a fader start connection.

For monitoring, you can listen to all input channels and the master sum via the adjustable headphone output. Cue Mix and Split functions support different monitoring methods. For sound reinforcement, there are two separately adjustable master channels with mono/stereo switching and a balance control. Master 1 has a fader and a ten-segment stereo level meter, which can be switched to Master 2. The master output voltage can be switched between 0.75 and 1.5 V RMS.

A separately adjustable booth output feeds the DJ monitor system; its level is not determined by the master control. Two record outputs independent of the master are available for recording. A switch determines whether the DJ microphone signal is included in the recording. The separate Booth and Record paths help you set up monitoring and recording independently of the master level.

Headphones can be connected via a 3.5 or 6.3 mm jack; the specified minimum impedance is 8 ohms. Master 1 has stereo XLR and stereo RCA connections, while Master 2 has a balanced 6.3 mm stereo jack output. There are also stereo RCA connections for Booth and Record, as well as two 3.5 mm sockets for fader start. The included power supply powers the mixer; the total connected load is 35 W.

With its numerous line connections, phono inputs, three microphone inputs and separate master, booth and record paths, the PM-4010 is suitable for DJ setups with multiple playback sources and independent monitoring or recording. Four adjustable channels and two master paths are the key criteria when putting together your setup.
