When a single full-range speaker is to be used in a PA system, clear signal routing and suitable sound tuning are particularly important. The active HK Audio PR:O 15 D combines a 15-inch woofer with a 1-inch tweeter and a 1200-watt Class D amplifier with bi-amping. The integrated DSP control handles EQ, crossover and limiter functions.

The input signal comes in via a balanced XLR/jack combo socket; an XLR through output routes it to further speakers. Flat and Boost EQ presets, as well as a Tone control with Music and Speech settings, are available for sound tuning. The FIR crossover divides the frequency range at 2.5 kHz with a slope of 48 dB per octave.

The 90° x 55° CD horn provides wide high-frequency dispersion. Maximum sound pressure is 125 dB on average and 130 dB peak; the calculated maximum value is 133 dB. Separate peak and RMS limiters protect the tweeter and woofer/midrange driver. The frequency response ranges from 60 Hz to 16 kHz at ±3 dB and from 54 Hz to 18 kHz at −10 dB.

The wooden enclosure can be mounted using three M8 points. For use on a speaker stand, the cabinet has a DuoTilt flange with 3° and 7° tilt options; two integrated handles make transport easier. The fixed tilt angles help adjust the orientation towards the listening area. Weighing 23.7 kg and measuring 47 x 62 x 42 cm, the model is suited to mobile PA setups and fixed installations where an active 15-inch speaker with DSP, XLR through connection and rigging points is required.
