EVE Audio SC407

In the EVE Audio SC407, two 165 mm woofers work together up to 280 Hz, before the separate midrange driver takes over. This symmetrical four-way system is designed as an active studio monitor for demanding monitoring in medium-sized and larger control rooms, and reaches sound pressure levels of up to 116 dB at a distance of one metre.

The two woofers, each with a 1.5-inch voice coil, reproduce the range from 35 to 280 Hz. A 100 mm SilverCone driver handles the midrange, while the Air Motion Transformer RS3 is used for the high frequencies. The honeycomb-structured diaphragms coated with glass fibre are used in the low- and mid-frequency drivers.

Each of the four drivers has its own PWM amplifier; the total short-term output power is 600 W. The amplifiers deliver 2 × 185 W for the woofers, 180 W for the midrange driver and 50 W for the tweeter. An integrated limiter protects the system. Two rear bass-reflex ports with a large cross-section support bass reproduction and are designed to minimise airflow noise.

DSP filters and front-panel controls are provided to adapt the monitor to the listening position. Use the control to adjust the volume, as well as the high-shelf, low-shelf, midrange and desk filters; the volume and filters can be locked. The integrated DSP with Burr-Brown A/D converter processes the input signal for digital sound adjustment.

The rear panel features balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs. A switch adjusts the input level to +7 or +22 dBu. The rotatable centre section with the midrange driver and tweeter allows the monitor to be used in a horizontal or vertical orientation. This lets you adapt the monitor to its placement in the studio.

With its analogue inputs, adjustable filters and rotatable driver section, the SC407 is suited to control rooms where a four-way system with ample headroom and precise adjustment to the workstation is required. The orientation and filters can be matched to your setup, while the input-level selection accommodates different signal levels.
