Product description ESI 61XT

For software instruments and MIDI devices, you need a keyboard that you can both play and use directly for control. The ESI 61XT combines 61 full-size velocity-sensitive keys with programmable controls, making it suitable for studio and live setups.

The pitch bend wheel and modulation control are located directly on the keyboard; you also have eight freely programmable endless rotary encoders at your disposal. Using the keys for advanced programming, you can assign MIDI controller numbers to the encoders, the modulation control and the sustain pedal input. This lets you control parameters on software synthesisers or other MIDI equipment, for example.

The octave keys shift the playable range. You can also change the transposition using the same keys; an indicator distinguishes between the two settings. You can also select the MIDI channel, send program and bank changes, and switch between GM and GS initialisation commands. Five velocity curves—including fixed values—let you adjust the keyboard’s response to your playing style.

Configurations can be saved in ten internal memory slots and recalled when needed. The polarity of the sustain pedal input can also be switched. The keyboard is powered by USB when connected to a computer and transmits MIDI data; no dedicated drivers are required for the specified Windows versions. As a class-compliant device, it can also be connected to an Apple iPad using a suitable Camera Connection Adapter.

The aluminium housing with glossy white side panels is designed for use in the studio or on stage. For operation without a computer, an external power supply and a MIDI connection cable are required; when connected to a computer via USB, no separate power supply is needed. This makes the 61XT suitable for setups that call for a 61-key keyboard, direct MIDI controls and programmable settings.
