Product description Electro-Voice Q-99
With a two-channel PA power amplifier, the power it delivers at the respective loudspeaker impedance is critical. The Electro-Voice Q99 operates in Class-H topology and delivers up to 2 × 1,250 W at 2 ohms, 2 × 900 W at 4 ohms or 2 × 550 W at 8 ohms. It is designed for mobile PA systems and fixed installations.
For connectivity, it provides XLR inputs with loop-through capability and Speakon outputs. The amplifier can operate in stereo or bridged mode; at 8 ohms, the maximum bridge power is 1,800 W. The ground lift helps to address hum issues caused by ground loops. When choosing loudspeakers, the appropriate impedance and operating mode must be taken into account.
Signal processing includes a switchable low-pass notch filter and a protective low-cut for systems without subwoofers. The filter complements the frequency response of small and medium-sized PA systems; the low-cut limits low frequencies if no subwoofer is used. Dynamic limiters and protection circuits against over-temperature and DC protect the amplifier and the connected loudspeakers. A three-stage fan dissipates heat from front to back.
With two channels, 2-ohm capability, and the option for bridged operation, the Q99 fits into mobile and fixed-installation PA setups, such as in clubs and at events. When selecting, the most important factors are the impedance of the loudspeakers, the required power per channel, and whether stereo or bridged operation is intended.
