Electro-Voice PX2152

At high sound pressure levels, controlled coverage and operating headroom are important. The Electro-Voice PX2152 is a passive or bi-amp-capable two-way PA system from the Phoenix series, with two 15-inch woofers and two compression drivers. It is designed for mobile sound reinforcement and permanent installations, and can be used full-range or with a subwoofer to extend the low-frequency range.

The two DVX3150 woofers use forced cooling; two ND2-16 compression drivers handle the high-frequency range. A manifold combines the high-frequency signals. The horn provides standard coverage of 60° × 45° and can be rotated to swap the coverage angles. When two PX2152 systems are arranged as an array, the system data specify horizontal coverage of 120° in the standard position or 90° with the horns rotated. Rotatable 60° × 45° horn helps adapt the coverage to the desired orientation.

In passive mode, the system is rated for 1,200 watts continuous power handling and 4,800 watts peak power handling. In bi-amp mode, separate power-handling ratings apply to the low- and high-frequency sections; amplification and signal routing must be configured accordingly. The connections are two parallel Neutrik-Speakon-NL4 sockets. Passive or bi-amp configuration allows integration into different sound reinforcement setups.

The enclosure is made from 18 mm plywood with a black EVCoat finish and features eight M10 suspension points. The powder-coated steel grille protects the speakers; its logo can be rotated. Suitable certified rigging is required for overhead installation, which must be carried out by an authorised professional in accordance with applicable regulations. Eight M10 suspension points support installation with suitable rigging accessories.

This makes the PX2152 suitable for mobile PA systems and permanent installations where a passive or bi-amp two-way system with high power handling and defined coverage is required. For operation, you should match the amplifier configuration, horn position and, where applicable, the addition of a subwoofer to your setup.
