Electro Voice Dynamic Microphone with Switch PL84S

A switch located directly on the microphone is practical for performances when you want to mute your signal between sets. The Electro Voice PL84S with on/off switch is a cardioid condenser vocal microphone for singing and speech; it can also be used to mic acoustic instruments.

The condenser capsule is designed to reproduce vocals in detail, with warm lows, a pronounced midrange and smooth highs. Its shock-mounted design reduces handling and grip noise. The virtually silent, lockable switch electrically mutes the microphone signal directly at the device.

As with directional microphones, the bass response changes with the distance from the sound source: at less than about 15 cm, the proximity effect increases. This can add depth to a voice that sounds thin. Close-miking can also reduce the tendency to feed back; the higher output level allows you to reduce the gain at the mixer accordingly.

The microphone requires an external 11 to 52 V phantom power supply, as provided by many mixers and microphone inputs. The three-pin XLR connection carries the signal to the preamp. A fine-mesh Memraflex grille and satin-black housing are part of this model's design.
