Product description Electro-Voice CP1800

When two speaker channels are to operate independently or deliver greater power together, the right operating modes and safe load matching are essential. The two-channel Electro Voice CP1800 is a Class H power amplifier for PA systems and supports stereo, parallel and bridge modes. In stereo mode, it delivers a rated output of 2 × 500 W at 4 Ohms; in bridge mode, a maximum of 1,800 W is specified at 4 Ohms.

In Dual mode, the power amplifier amplifies the signals at inputs A and B separately. In Parallel mode, both channels receive the same input signal, while their levels can still be adjusted separately. In bridge mode, the signal from input A is used; this mode is designed for a 4-Ohm load. The power amplifier is rated for loads down to 2 Ohms in stereo mode, although continuous operation at this impedance may not be possible depending on the ambient temperature. The same applies to 4-Ohm bridge mode.

Two electronically balanced XLR inputs are available for signal input. Two XLR outputs pass the input signals through to additional power amplifiers. Speakers are connected via SPEAKON outputs; a ground-lift switch is also provided. The inputs are designed for connection to mixers and signal processors, and the balanced connection helps prevent interference on longer signal paths.

Peak current and dynamic limiters, along with protection circuits against high-frequency signals, back EMF, DC voltage at the output, short circuits and overheating, protect the power amplifier and connected speakers. Temperature monitoring covers the output transistors and power supply. A power-on delay and inrush current limiting are also part of the protection system. The fans move air from front to back and operate at three speeds.

The CP1800 fits PA and rack setups where you match the output power to the speaker impedance and operating mode. The choice between two independent channels, parallel mode and bridge mode makes it suitable for stereo PA systems as well as a single 4-Ohm load in bridge mode.
