When floor space is limited, a speaker’s cabinet design matters as well as its size. The Elac BS 52.2 in white is a passive compact speaker from the BS-50.2 series with a sealed cabinet, and can be placed on a shelf, on a speaker stand or mounted on the wall.

You’ll need a suitable amplifier to connect it: the model has a nominal impedance of 6 Ω and is suitable for amplifiers in the 4 to 8 Ω range. A power output of 20 to 100 W per channel is recommended. The rated and music power handling is 40 and 60 W respectively; these figures help you match the speaker and amplifier.

A 110 mm cone works in conjunction with a 25 mm fabric dome tweeter. The crossover frequency is 2,500 Hz; the specified frequency range is 65 to 25,000 Hz. With a sensitivity of 84 dB at 2.83 V/m, the speaker is designed for use with a suitable amplifier.
