Edirol MIDI PCR-800

When you need keyboard performance and direct MIDI control on the same device, the 61-key keyboard with aftertouch combines both with a wide range of controls. The Edirol PCR-800 is a USB MIDI controller for music software and external MIDI devices. The keyboard responds to velocity and Channel Aftertouch; an adjustable split point supports split and layer setups.

For parameter changes and trigger tasks, 50 freely assignable controllers are available: 18 velocity-sensitive pads, nine rotary controls, nine faders, seven buttons, two crossfader controllers, two foot controllers, plus pitch bend, modulation and aftertouch controls. MIDI messages can be assigned on the keyboard or configured using the PCR-Editor software for PC and Mac. Changes can be saved as Control Maps and switched between.

The connections are located on the side of the unit. Connect the keyboard to your computer via USB and power it using USB bus power; alternatively, the unit can be powered by a 9 V power supply. MIDI IN and OUT connect external instruments. When MIDI Merge is enabled, incoming MIDI data can be merged with a selectable PCR port or the MIDI OUT. Dedicated sockets are provided for sustain and expression pedals.

The Dynamic Mapping switch can alternatively be assigned to the V-LINK function, which allows compatible devices to control music and images. Dynamic Mapping is listed as an extended feature for future applications. The side-mounted power switch has USB Bus, OFF and DC IN positions; a four-digit LED display shows operating and controller information.

The package also includes the Cakewalk Production Plus Pack with SONAR LE, Project 5 LE and Dimension LE, as well as a USB cable, CD-ROM, quick-start and user manuals, and Roland software licence terms. A power supply is available as an optional extra; compatible models listed are PSB-120, PSB-230EU, PSB-230UK and PSB-240A. DP-2/DP-6 Pedal Switches and EV-5/EV-7 expression pedals are also optional. The PCR-800 is suited to studio and live setups where you want to combine 61 keys, extensive controller assignments and classic MIDI connections.
