Dynacord Speaker VariLine VL 152

With a full-range PA system, dispersion plays a role in how evenly the sound is distributed throughout the room. The Dynacord VariLine VL 152 is a passive 2-way loudspeaker with a rotatable 90° x 45° horn; you can adjust the dispersion angles to suit the orientation of the enclosure. The 15-inch woofer and 1.4-inch compression driver work together in a compact full-range system.

You can use the speaker in passive mode or in biamp mode. You select the operating mode using an external switch on the enclosure. In passive mode, the integrated crossover handles the separation at 1.5 kHz. In biamp mode, the high and low frequencies are driven separately; the specified active crossover is also at 1.5 kHz and supports Linkwitz-Riley at 24 dB/octave or Linear-Phase-FIR.

The connections consist of two NL4 Speakon sockets. In full-range mode, the signal is carried on 1+/1−, while 2+/2− are looped through. In biamp mode, 1+/1− carry the low-frequency signal and 2+/2− carry the high-frequency signal; all four contacts are passed through. The Voice-Coil-Tracking-Protection protects the drivers against thermal overload.

The enclosure is made of birch plywood and finished in black two-component paint. Two handles make it easier to transport; the powder-coated steel front grille is backed with acoustic foam. Suitable mounting and flying hardware options are available for installations. When flying the speaker, applicable safety regulations must be followed and qualified professionals consulted.

With a 500-watt RMS power rating, an 8-ohm nominal impedance and a maximum sound pressure level of up to 133 dB, the VL 152 is suitable as a full-range loudspeaker in sound reinforcement systems that can operate in passive or biamp mode, depending on the setup. The rotatable horn and selectable operating mode are particularly relevant when planning to use the speaker in different configurations or installations.
