Dynacord PowerSub 212

When a subwoofer is also intended to power the satellite speakers, an integrated crossover saves the need for additional signal processing. The Dynacord PowerSub 212 combines two 12-inch drivers with a Class D amplifier and is designed for active PA systems with a mono subwoofer and full-range speakers. Stereo crossover with a 120 Hz crossover frequency and separate mid/high outputs support this setup.

You can feed in the left and right line signals and loop them through via the respective Line Thru outputs. The integrated crossover routes the low frequencies to the subwoofer; the higher frequencies are available at the XLR outputs MID/HIGH OUT L and R. This lets you connect active full-range speakers directly, such as the Dynacord D 8A or D 11A. The mid/high outputs operate independently of the Volume control, so its setting does not change the output level of the satellites.

The amplifier delivers a total of 400 W RMS or a maximum output power of 800 W. A master level control is used to adjust the subwoofer level; a Limit indicator signals when operation reaches the limit. You can use the phase switch to change the polarity between 0° and 180° and check the indicator. Level control and phase reversal help you match the bass range to the rest of the system.

The frequency response ranges from 40 to 130 Hz at -10 dB, and the crossover frequency is 120 Hz. The cabinet is made of multilayer wood and MDF; a powder-coated steel grille with acoustic foam protects the drivers. Four castors make it easier to transport the 39,5 kg subwoofer. Four castors are particularly practical when moving the cabinet during events.

The PowerSub 212 is suited to active PA setups in which a single subwoofer handles bass reproduction and powers two active full-range speakers via the integrated crossover. The stereo signal path with L/R outputs makes it just as suitable for this purpose as for expanding a system with the D 8A or D 11A.
