DJ-Tech Controller DJ-Mouse

When DJing on a laptop, scratch movements and software functions can also be controlled with a mouse. The DJ-Tech DJ-Mouse combines the usual mouse buttons with a jog wheel and a separate scratch button; scratch control directly from the mouse is therefore part of its operation. It is designed for DJ software and connects via USB.

The multifunctional jog wheel is used to control faders and knobs, operate the crossfader, and scratch or rewind. You can use the scroll wheel to navigate the playlist and operate software controls. The scratch button activates scratch mode directly; the jog wheel and scroll wheel can also be used for scratch movements.

The mouse also supports loops, cue points and samples: during playback, you can set and return to four CUE points, trigger eight tempo-synchronised samples, and use Auto Loop, Split Loop and three editable Reloopers. The software functions include beatmatching with automatic tempo detection and adjustment, as well as Automix with Master Tempo.

Horizontal and vertical parameters are provided for effect control. The feature set includes six effects with X/Y control and seven editable effects with three-dimensional control. The illuminated controls and LED ring around the jog wheel make it easier to find your way around in low light. A turntable-design scratch mat is also included.

The DJ-Mouse is powered via USB and can be connected to a Windows PC or Mac. The listed operating systems are Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista, as well as Mac OS X version 10.4 or later. Windows requires a Pentium III at 1 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 200 MB of free hard drive space and a DirectSound- or ASIO-compatible sound card. For Mac, the requirements are a G4 at 1.5 GHz or later, or an Intel Core Duo, 512 MB RAM, 200 MB of free space and a sound card with Core Audio drivers.

The package includes the DJ-Mouse, a mouse pad and Traktor LE on CD. This compact USB device is suited to laptop-based DJ setups where you want to control basic software functions and scratch movements using a mouse. The jog wheel and scratch button are its key distinguishing features.
