The DJ Table as Central Furniture for Your DJ Equipment
Anyone considering purchasing a new DJ table will quickly realize that there are several aspects to consider during the purchase. A DJ's valuable equipment should not only be stored securely but should also be easy to use and look good. Design always plays an important role when buying a new DJ table or perhaps even building one yourself.
Building a DJ table yourself is not easy and requires a fair amount of skill and basic woodworking knowledge. We cannot provide you with detailed instructions on how to do this as it is a complex process and there are countless variations. However, below we provide some tips to consider when purchasing and planning a self-built DJ table.
What is the Optimal Height for a DJ Table?

The optimal height largely depends on the size of the DJ and is calculated similarly to the height of a bar counter. For bar counters, the standard is approximately 110 cm. However, in the case of the DJ table, the height of the DJ equipment used is subtracted. A DJ mixer is usually about 11 cm high. Therefore, the DJ table should be just under 1 meter high to achieve an optimal working height of approximately 110 cm.
The standard height is based on an average height of about 180 cm. Ideally, the height of the work surface including the equipment should correspond to the DJ's elbow height. Most tables in our range are built accordingly, thus offering a comfortable and suitable working surface for extended DJ sets.

How Big or Wide Should the DJ Table Be?
The width of this DJ furniture depends naturally on the DJ's working method and the DJ equipment used. A classic set with 2 turntables and a mixer naturally requires more space than a DJ set consisting only of a DJ controller.
Therefore, one should carefully consider what DJ equipment one wants to put on the table:
- Do you want to work only with turntables or also with CD players or media players?
- How wide is your mixer? 10 inches or 12 inches or perhaps even a 19-inch mixer?
- Do you maybe want to set up some monitors (monitor speakers) on the right and left?
Your DJ table should definitely be large enough to allow space for your headphones alongside this DJ equipment. Some DJ tables already have special mounts or a second level (ideally both) specifically designed for this purpose.
Depending on your requirements, it is also important to consider whether you want to position DJ turntables in battle stance (vertical arrangement) as the depth of the DJ table's work surface must be slightly larger in this case.
What practical features are there in DJ tables?
As already mentioned, some tables already have integrated headphone mounts such as in the Zomo Deck Stand Ibiza. This ensures that the DJ headphones are always well stored and do not take up space on the actual work surface.
It is also very useful if there are already openings in the worktop that serve as cable passages. This makes it much easier to lay the connection cables and always keeps everything tidy.
The second level of a DJ desk is also a feature that we highly recommend, as here you can store additional DJ equipment. An amplifier or even a multi-plug is well accommodated here and not visible from the front. Everything is always neatly organized for your audience. Some high-quality DJ tables even have a cable channel that leads all the way to the floor (for example, Zomo Deck Stand Miami or Berlin).
Very practical is often an integrated laptop stand where you can place your laptop with the corresponding DJ software and then always operate everything perfectly. Under certain circumstances, however, it is more flexible if you attach an additional laptop stand to your DJ table, since you can then also use the laptop stand for other purposes and the adjustment options are usually better and more individual.
It is very useful especially for vinyl DJs if compartments for LP storage are already integrated into the DJ furniture. Vinyl records are very important especially in classical use and should have an appropriate box or compartment for storing vinyl records. DJs often also buy a suitable DJ furniture for the living room and therefore want to store the LPs close to the DJ equipment. The Zomo Deck Stand Vegas offers this possibility.
If you want to use the table as mobile as possible, you may need a folding version. If your DJ table is foldable, then it is quickly set up and easy to transport. Here it is often less about the design and more about practical handling. These DJ tables are often made of metal and therefore less sensitive to impacts and wear. The manufacturer Antoc offers different solutions here.
Furthermore, we would recommend buying a DJ table that ensures complete "legroom" and does not have another central foot on the table. This center bar is an obstacle and will also lead to regular collisions and endanger your DJ set. We consider good legroom to be very important.
What material should your new DJ table be made of?
Most high-quality wooden tables are made of MDF (medium density fiberboard). MDF is very robust and gives your table a high stability. An important part of the DJ furniture made of MDF is the coating with decor, which makes the MDF material resistant to any kind of liquids. We strongly advise against a DJ furniture made purely of MDF without decor, as this can quickly lead to problems with moisture. Glass edges left by a drinking glass or bottle are only the lesser problem here.
DJ stands made of metal are also very popular. These DJ tables are often foldable and lightweight. Usually, these tables are less stable, but still have certain advantages in terms of weight and flexibility.
Conclusion:
Your new DJ table should not only have a modern design but also practical features and be made of high-quality materials. In our extensive range, you will find all possible variants of DJ tables on which you can store and present your DJ equipment optimally and tastefully. DJ tables adorn every living room of an ambitious DJ just as much as this DJ furniture is in use in many trendy clubs for many fantastic parties.
