If three stereo sources are to remain connected at the same time, an additional mixing channel often saves you from having to swap cables. The Behringer VMX 300 USB is a three-channel DJ mixer for turntables and line sources; you can also connect a computer via USB for playback and recording.

Each channel has a 3-band EQ with a kill function. The controls allow boosts of up to 12 dB and cuts of up to 32 dB, so you can selectively reduce frequency ranges during transitions. An adjustable crossfader curve and the reverse switch let you adapt the crossfading behaviour to your mixing style. The VCA control and durable ULTRAGLIDE faders are designed for frequent use; the crossfader is rated for up to 500,000 cycles.

The integrated USB connection transfers audio signals between the mixer and a computer. The device can be used with PC and Mac without additional drivers. For monitoring, it offers PFL cueing, an adjustable balance between the PFL and output signals, and a split function. A dual BPM counter displays tempo and beat synchronisation; the level meter has a peak hold function. The XPQ-3D surround function adds to the mixing section.

For announcements, there is a microphone input with ULN technology and a talkover function with adjustable attenuation. The kill switches on the front can be operated using tap or hold. The master, booth and recording outputs can be used separately; gold-plated RCA sockets are used for the audio connections. Three mixing channels and USB audio make this model suitable for DJ setups with multiple sources, computer playback and a separate booth or recording output.
