American Audio Q-Spand PRO

A DJ mixer can be integrated directly into a fixed setup or mobile rack in a 19-inch rack. The American Audio Q-Spand PRO combines four channels with phono, line and microphone inputs, and adds SRS-WOW sound processing with 3D stereo and TRU-BASS functionality to the mix.

Three phono inputs are available for turntables, each of which can be switched to aux level; there are also four line inputs and three microphone inputs. An additional mini-jack input on the top panel can accommodate an MP3 player, for example, and is controlled via channel 4. When switching the phono/aux inputs, make sure the selected level is suitable for the connected device.

Each channel has gain and bass, mid and treble controls. Stream-Flow LEDs display the signal levels of the individual channels. The adjustable crossfader lets you control the transition between the assigned channels; its curve can be adjusted from smooth to fast. Q-Start lets you remotely control compatible American Audio or American DJ CD players using the fader.

The SRS processing can be adjusted using separate controls: 3D Stereo changes the spatial playback, TRU BASS enhances the perception of bass, and WOW combines both processes. For announcements, there are three microphone inputs, separate level controls and Talkover, which lowers the other signals when activated. A rear microphone trimmer limits the maximum input level.

For connecting to the sound system, the device offers balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA master outputs. A rear master trim limits the maximum output level; separate zone and record outputs provide additional connection options. When cueing, you can mix the cue and master signals in your headphones or distribute them between the left and right sides using Split Cue.

With its rack dimensions, versatile analogue inputs and separate outputs, the mixer is suitable for DJ racks and permanently installed setups where turntables, playback devices and microphones need to be brought together. The level meters, adjustable output limit and cue functions support operation at events and in club or hire environments.
