Product description American Audio MX-1400

When turntables, CD players and other source devices need to be ready at the DJ booth at the same time, clear channel assignment matters. The American Audio MX-1400 DSP is a 14-inch, four-channel club mixer that brings together extensive phono, line, aux and microphone inputs, as well as separate master and zone outputs.

There are three phono, four line, four aux and three microphone inputs for your sources. The channel strips can be adjusted with gain as well as high, mid and low controls; cue functions help you monitor signals through headphones and prepare transitions. The aux inputs use RCA connectors, and an additional stereo aux input is located on top of the unit.

The Feather Fader Plus crossfader is replaceable, and you can adjust its curve from a smooth transition to a fast response. Channels can be assigned to the crossfader. Stream Flow LEDs display the signal levels for the individual channels and the master; master trim and microphone trim are used to set levels.

The integrated DSP offers Trans, manual and automatic filters, Auto Pan, Pitch Shifter, Flanger, Reverb and Echo. You can assign the effect to a channel or microphone input and adjust the time and effect level. A BPM display detects the tempo of the master signal; you can set the value manually via Tap if needed.

Balanced XLR outputs for master and zone are available for sound reinforcement. You can adjust the zone output’s volume, high and low controls, and assign it either to a single channel or to the overall signal. You can also adjust the master’s balance and select mono or stereo operation. The recessed connection panel protects plugs and makes it easier to install the mixer in a case.

The microphone section includes gain or trim, mute and talkover, as well as separate tone controls. Talkover lowers the other signal when the announcement needs to take centre stage. With compatible American Audio CD players, you can also control the Q-Start function via the crossfader. This makes the mixer suitable for DJ setups that need multiple analogue sources, microphones and a separate monitor output.
