Akai LPK25

When you're on the move and need a compact keyboard for entering notes into your DAW, you can add the Akai LPK25 as a USB MIDI keyboard to your setup. The 25 velocity-sensitive mini keys are designed for playing virtual instruments and capturing melodic or harmonic ideas. As a MIDI controller, the device does not produce any sound itself; you'll need suitable software or a connected MIDI system for that.

The octave buttons shift the playing range up or down and, together with the 25 keys, provide a range of nine octaves. For evenly repeated note sequences, the arpeggiator splits held chords into individual notes. You can set the arpeggio direction and octave range; a Tap Tempo button lets you set the tempo. Tap Tempo is disabled when using external synchronisation.

The Sustain button holds played notes for as long as you keep it pressed. When the arpeggiator is enabled, it can also hold the played combination of notes, allowing the arpeggio to continue after you release the keys. Available functions and settings, including the MIDI channel, transposition and arpeggiator parameters, can be configured using the editor for Mac and PC.

The LPK25 sends MIDI data to the computer via its USB Mini connector and also draws its power from it. No additional driver installation is required for Mac or PC; a separate power supply is not needed. You can save four editable presets on the device and recall them using the Program button. The compact housing is designed to fit in a laptop bag or rucksack for transport.
