Neumann BCM 104

Neumann has launched the BCM 104, a microphone specifically for broadcasting. What they did not necessarily expect was the number of home, project, and professional studio owners who use the microphone for speech and vocals because of its excellent characteristics for recording human voices.

Neumann is famous for its large-diaphragm condenser capsules, and the capsule used in the BCM 104 is specifically designed to capture the human voice without coloration or unwanted artifacts. The microphone has a fixed cardioid polar pattern with excellent off-axis reflection. The linear frequency response features a slight presence boost around 4 kHz and a subtle boost above 10 kHz to improve intelligibility.

The microphone's excellent transient response is optimized to capture every nuance of the human voice in brilliant detail. With its wide frequency response, the BCM 104 is suitable not only for speech applications, but also for sung voices and acoustic instruments.

The BCM 104 is equipped with an integrated pop shield that prevents recording-impairing plosives during vocal recordings and also effectively protects the diaphragm from moisture and particle contamination - a common problem with vocal microphones. The pop shield can be easily removed for cleaning without the need for tools.
