The MODX8 is equipped with Yamaha's expressive 88-key Graded Hammer keyboard and impresses with powerful technologies adopted from Yamaha's flagship Montage series.
The new MODX series offers numerous state-of-the-art upgrades compared with its MOXF predecessors, including the AWM2 sample and synthesis engine, equipped with eight times more waveforms; a powerful new eight-operator FM-X engine , updated to deliver amazingly dynamic sound and complex sound design; and Motion Control Synthesis for seamless integration and powerful control of both sound engines.
In addition to its powerful synth engines, the MODX 8 is equipped with numerous sophisticated features (many of which were adopted from the Montage series), including the Super Knob, which lets you control multiple parameters simultaneously.
It also offers the ability to send ten audio channels and 16 MIDI channels via USB to and from a computer or iOS device, Live Sets, which let you organise Performances without copying, renaming or changing their order, and an A/D input, which processes external audio sources via the MODX DSP.
Also on board is Yamaha's Motion Sequences function, which controls synthesiser parameters via rhythmic control data that you can interact with intuitively in real time; an Envelope Follower, which lets you use internal or external audio material as a control source for synthesiser parameters; and a Vocoder effect, which recreates the classic voice synth sound.
Four-part Seamless Sound Switching, capacity for 27 simultaneous effects, an integrated 4-in/10-out audio interface and 1 GB of internal flash memory round out the features of this workstation.
