Standalone lighting control is thought here directly, quickly and without a laptop. The controller is built for DMX setups, in which you want to shape shows on the spur of the moment, change effects live and organise multiple devices neatly. With a touchscreen, illuminated pads, music synchronisation and up to 4 DMX universes, you get a compact system that’s just as suitable for mobile use as for clubs, bars, stages and fixed installations. Direct access instead of menu hunting The user interface is clearly designed for performance. The 4.3" capacitive colour touchscreen display shows important functions in a straightforward way and supports you when working with the colour picker, pan/tilt grid and on-screen keyboard. This is how you set up fixtures, name presets or adapt movements without having to struggle through nested software windows.37 colour backlit silicone pads give you quick access to effects, groups, flash functions and presets. In addition, there are 4 push encoders with acceleration, allowing you to dial in values precisely or make larger changes quickly with a turn. It feels less like programming and more like active show control. Effects you shape right now Color FX, Move FX and Beam FX give you a broad toolkit for vivid light images. Colours, movements and brightness gradients can be combined directly on the device. Particularly useful is the integrated sequencer, with which you create your own patterns for beam and move effects. For colours, you can use, among others, Rainbow, Sparkle and chaser variants. You control moving heads and scanners with movements such as pan, tilt, circle or magic carpet. Dimmer, zoom or iris can be integrated via beam FX into chases, waves and rhythmic pulses. This creates shows that don’t feel rigid, but react live to the room, music and mood. Four universes, neatly distributed The controller supports up to 4 DMX universes with 2048 channels, with universes 3 and 4 needing to be activated as an add-on. This makes it possible to manage a small bar setup just as easily as a larger installation with multiple groups, moving lights, LED bars or effect devices. The DMX outputs can be used flexibly, as universes can be assigned to the XLR sockets. The unit can therefore also work as a DMX splitter. With up to 680 fixtures and beams, 8 fixture groups, 200 presets that can be stored and more than 20,000 available fixture profiles, you have enough scope for changing rigs and different event locations. Music in time, without detours For music-related shows, the hardware offers multiple sync options. The built-in electret microphone with auto-gain detects audio signals directly in the room. Alternatively, you use the 3.5 mm line-in if you want to feed in a cleaner signal from the mixer.Via USB, you can integrate Ableton Link, OS2L and MIDI Clock. This lets you synchronise effects to the BPM source of your DJ or show software. Even MIDI controllers can trigger presets or control group dimmers. This is particularly helpful when lighting, music and other show elements are intended to work more closely together. Robust hardware for everyday use The housing combines ABS plastic with a powder-coated steel base plate including a 100 mm VESA mount. The silicone pads have a matte surface and are colour backlit. Inside, a 220 MHz ARM CPU with 8 MB RAM and 16 MB Flash works, designed for fast response and direct DMX output.Projects and fixture data can be backed up and restored via USB. The controller automatically saves active projects and starts in under 2 seconds. DMX is output in under 1 second. For touring, rental, mobile DJs and fixed installations, this is an important point because setup and restart don’t take up unnecessary time. Who is the Wolfmix W1 MK3 for?
