Product description Wharfedale Delta 15
When a PA speaker is to be aimed on a stand or used as a flown top, its dispersion and mounting points are crucial. The Wharfedale Delta 15 is a passive 15-inch 2-way loudspeaker for sound reinforcement systems, touring and fixed installations. Its elliptical horn focuses the high-frequency range, while the dual-angle pole mount helps direct the speaker towards the audience.
A woofer with a cast frame and 3-inch voice coil handles the bass and midrange. The high frequencies are handled by a 1.75-inch titanium compression driver with a 2-inch voice coil and 1.4-inch throat. The rated power handling is 500 watts RMS, 1,000 watts programme and 2,000 watts peak; the frequency range is 50 Hz to 20 kHz, and the maximum sound pressure level is 131 dB.
As a passive speaker, this model requires a suitable external amplifier. Two parallel Speakon inputs make it easy to pass the signal on to another loudspeaker. The 8-ohm impedance must be taken into account when selecting and connecting the amplifier.
The enclosure is made of plywood and finished with a black Rhino-Rock textured coating. A steel grille protects the front of the speaker. For transport and installation, it has two high-impact plastic handles and nine M10 flying points.
The Delta 15 is suited to mobile sound reinforcement systems and fixed installations where a passive 15-inch loudspeaker with high power handling, parallel inputs and mounting options is required. The key considerations for integration are suitable amplification, the 8-ohm impedance and the space available for the enclosure.
