The Warm Audio Centavo Overdrive is designed as a boost and overdrive and takes its cues from classic pedal design from 1994 to 2009. From boost to transparent overdrive covers a range of gain settings. At low gain, you can use the pedal as a clean boost; at higher gain, distortion sets in late and develops gradually. The Output control sets the output level, allowing you to use the signal to boost an amplifier channel. Treble adjusts the high frequencies and can add extra presence with darker-sounding guitars, such as those with dual humbuckers or a mahogany body. Gain, Treble and Output handle tone and level adjustment. If the overdrive sounds too thin in the low register, the rear MOD switch extends the bass response and particularly affects the lower strings. This can give the signal more weight when playing in lower registers. A buffered bypass is also integrated. The MOD switch extends the bass range, while the bypass keeps the signal buffered when the pedal is switched off. The Centavo combines these features with TL072 operational amplifiers, vintage-style diodes and a charge-pump voltage regulator. The input and output are 6.35 mm jack sockets; power is supplied by a 9 V battery or a 9 V DC power supply, which is not included. The 6.35 mm inputs and outputs are suitable for connecting the pedal between a guitar and amplifier or in a pedalboard. The Warm Audio WA-84 is a small-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone for studio, home studio, live and broadcast applications. It is suitable for drums, acoustic and electric guitars and basses, piano, strings, as well as brass and woodwind instruments. Its fully discrete Class-A signal path uses a specially made vintage capsule and a heavy Nickel CineMag transformer. This combination shapes its voicing, designed for a warm, smooth sound. The cardioid capsule is interchangeable and supplied pre-installed; the transformer sits in the microphone’s balanced signal path. For loud sound sources, you can attenuate the signal by 10 dB directly at the microphone. The pad is positioned after the capsule and before the rest of the circuit; with attenuation engaged, the stated maximum sound pressure level increases from 123 to 133 dB.
