Product description Tascam USB MIDI US-200
For recording on a computer, the Tascam US-200 connects analogue audio signals and MIDI devices via a USB interface. It provides two inputs and four outputs and processes recordings at up to 24-bit/96 kHz. It is powered via USB, so no separate power supply is required.
Two microphone preamps are located behind the balanced XLR/TRS combo sockets; phantom power can be switched on. Input 1 can be switched from line level to instrument level to connect a guitar or bass directly. Signal and overload indicators for each channel help you monitor input levels while recording.
With analogue direct monitoring, you can hear the input signal without the delay caused by computer processing. Use the MON MIX control to adjust the balance between the input signal and computer playback. The two inputs can be monitored as a stereo pair or as two mono channels; the monitor mix is available at the headphone and line outputs.
Four unbalanced RCA outputs are available for connecting monitor speakers. The headphone connection is a 6.3 mm stereo jack. A shared level control adjusts the headphone and line outputs. MIDI IN and MIDI OUT with 5-pin DIN sockets let you connect, for example, a keyboard or a sound module; USB 2.0 connects the interface to the computer.
The US-200 is designed for Windows and Mac computers; the appropriate Tascam driver must be installed before use. Cubase LE 5 is included in the software package. This makes the interface suitable for computer setups where you want to record two analogue signals, connect MIDI devices and monitor through multiple line outputs.
