Product description Stanton M.505

If several turntables and line sources need to remain connected at the same time, a five-channel mixer saves you from frequently swapping cables. The Stanton M.505 is an analogue club mixer in a 12-inch format with five channels and a separate microphone channel. With five phono and five line inputs, it is designed for DJ setups with multiple sources.

Each of the five channels can be switched between phono and line sources. Channels 1 and 2 each have an additional combo input that can be switched between mic and line level. This lets you connect microphones, samplers or drum machines, for example. Another microphone input is located separately on the top panel; gain controls with clip LEDs and channel trims help you monitor the input levels.

The mixer has a send/return effects loop for external sound processing. Use the send buttons to select the channel to be processed, adjust the send level and send EQ, and route the signal to an external effects unit. You can preview the effects signal in your headphones via Cue Return and then assign it to the master or crossfader. With Crossfader Return on the opposite side, you can crossfade between the effects and dry signals.

Each channel has a 60 mm fader and a 3-band EQ with kill function. The Penny-&-Giles crossfader can be assigned to channels on side A or B, or bypassed. Its curve can be adjusted separately for each side: a longer transition is suitable for smooth blends, while a steep setting is suited to fast cuts and scratching techniques. The faders are replaceable.

When cueing, use Cue Pan to mix the selected PFL signal with the master signal. Cue Split routes PFL and master to the left and right earcups; setting Cue Pan to the centre lets you hear both signals. Two headphone sockets, 6.3 mm and 3.5 mm, allow you to connect two pairs of headphones. The level meter can display either the master level or the level of the cued input.

For sound reinforcement, balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA master outputs are available; both connection types can be used simultaneously. Separate RCA outputs for booth monitoring and recording make it easy to integrate the mixer into club and recording setups. Five stereo sources and an external effects loop make the M.505 particularly suitable when you want to mix an extensive analogue DJ setup centrally and connect microphone, monitor and recording paths separately.
